Wellll it's a pretty old stereotype that's almost aaalways used for cheesecake, but if you're using it responsibly then it's all good. Surely adds some variety to Mortal Kombat's roster, too, which can only be a good thing. MK seems to think all living things have the same body types. And... I can't even put my feelings on their "portrayals of the martial arts" into words. I was excited when I heard Deadly Alliance would have alternate stances for every character. But then came the reality. Does this make me part of the problem? It's not like I'm playing as her and thinking "Oh yeah, that's some sexy right there.", it's more that I think it's funny when the hardcore killing machine is a cute girl.

Shadow of the Colossus is a good one for ps2 and let's see... the Katamari games are just crazy fun, Transformers (the Armada one), Star Trek Voyager Elite Force was done pretty good in platform style, that's all I got for now.
Re: On a Mission
I feel I should point out that Colossus is pretty flippin' far removed from God of War, thematically and stylistically. It's a fantastic game, and doubtlessly a Third Person 3D Action-Adventure, but the engine and tone are verrrry different.
That said, Scourge likes his oddities, and Colossus is certainly that, so I second your motion.
Of course, I love Chaos Legion, so I'm not one to talk.

Oh. He wanted something else like GOW? I was just naming some of my fave PS2 games. I ain't played anything else like GOW.
Re: On a Mission
There's plenty out there, it's just God of War happens to be very critically acclaimed. So Devil May Cry's probably a good starting point.

Re: On a Mission
Colossus is certainly on my list, good to see it seconded a couple times hereabouts. And "Devil May Cry", you say? I'll look into that.
I'm sure there's not much else like GoW, which is why it's so highly acclaimed, but stuff that's about as fun is kind of what I was looking for. Thanks for the tips, ol' chums!

Welllll maybe I missed something but there are plenty of games like GoW. It just happened to have particularly polished controls. Like I said, Devil May Cry was there first. Just avoid Devil May Cry 2, because it sucks!
Honestly, I'm not a "fan" of Devil May Cry because I find it very much Style Over Substance. The combat system is good, I like being able to surf around on a downed enemy and switch rapidly between flaming gauntlets, harpoon guns and living briefcases mid-combo, BUT the cutscenes are silly, the characters do little for me, and the story beyond DeviantArt cliche.
But definitely give DMC1 or 3 a go (or 4, if you've got the right console!). If you're bothered about story, start with 3. One of the stages is the internal organs of a village-sized flying serpent containing the rusting hulks of buses and aeroplanes. Quite impressive. Frustrating puzzles tho'.

Re: On a Mission
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was basically described as "God of War: The Middle Ages," if that tells you anything.

I heard that the Ghost Rider game is also very GOW-ish. He whips around flaming chains that are attached to his arms too. Actually I heard it was more a rip-off of GOW.

Damn, I might have to check that out.Onslaught Six wrote:Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was basically described as "God of War: The Middle Ages," if that tells you anything.
