Rebuilding the Gobots

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I just had a random thought for Tux. I think it would be cool if, when he transformed, it was smooth and seamless. Almost no sound except for maybe air being sealed out, you know? Kind of like a super expensive, upper class transformation. :)

I like it. Tough as hell to pull off as a toy, I'm sure, but it's not as though we've gotta worry about that happening, right?

Felt like picking this thread up again. I get these waves of Gobots nostalgia that come and go, and it's come back again. I was thinking of doing it a little differently this time though. Instead of picking random Gobots to do, I think I'll just go down the list in order, minus the ones we've done already, of course. And instead of suggesting an alt-mode outright, maybe open it up for discussion from everyone since my knowledge of vehicles and companies is admittedly pretty limited. Most of the stuff I've posted up in this thread I found by pure chance (though the Saleen Raptor is one of the happiest finds I stumbled upon :D ). Anyway, here's the list:

GOBOTS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gobots#Gobot_figures

#1 is Cy-kill and he's been done already. On to #2: Tank. Tank is a blue Renegade that transforms into a tank. He's a strange looking kind of tank though. He's got two small guns instead of one big canon. I like this kid's review of Tank (and 4 others), so I'll let him do the talking. But in the meantime, what kind of alt-mode would be suitable for Tank to upgrade to? Well, a tank, sure, but a specific one?

*crickets*

Okay I'll just toss this out there-

The AAV-7A1 for Tank!

I got to thinking about it, and I thought that since we already have Destroyer to represent a tank with a big canon, and since Tank (the character) doesn't have a canon, then why not try something a little different? This is an amphibious assault vehicle. The shape of it is reminiscent of Tank a bit, and the armaments allow for 2 machine guns to be mounted up top just like how Tank has 2 smaller guns instead of one big canon. There's a ton more info on the wiki

So what do you think? Have we found our Tank?

FITOR
http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Renegades/Fitor/fitor.htm

Fitor's next on the list and I felt like doing one more today anyway. I remember Fitor from the show really well. He was Cy-kill's most trusted lieutenant aside from Crasher and Coptur, and sort of played the Shockwave role of staying behind on Gobotron to continue the fight there while Cy-kill was off running errands on Earth. He transforms into a red and black jet, and being that he is a jet, I seem to recall that he had a few dogfights with Leader-1. Fitor's jet mode was a bit more sci-fi than based on any real aircraft (I believe), so I wanted to find something real but also futuristic looking. This is what I found:

The RMV-1F Falken

Image

Wingspan: 52 ft
Length: 24.0mbr
Height: 19.9 ft
Weight: 23,300kg
Max Speed: Mach 2.2
Engine: WWX-GD-425x2
Manufactured by: RavaCorp.

Info: Though it can be viewed a multi-role aircraft, the Falken is better suited for Air-to-air combat. It's most prominent feature other than forward-swept wings is what seems to be an armoured, glassless cockpit. This is in actuality, a 360° celestial-spherical screen cockpit layout, giving the pilot an immense advantage in combat. Instead of a traditional glass canopy, the plane utilizes a prototype of the COFFIN (COnnection For Flight INterface) system, which is similar in effect to a one-way mirror. The pilot can still see out, but no one can see in. This is achieved via a series of real-time hexagonal monitors and external cameras that transmit the visual data to the pilot. It also makes use of the prototype system, ENSI (Electro-Neuron-Synapse-Interface) which, if developed to its full potential, will connect the pilot directly to the aircraft's systems via neural cables.
(FT, these systems are perfected and standard on all military aircraft)

This is a concept jet and the patent is still pending on it. Can't get much more futuristic than that. I initially thought this jet would be a good fit for Leader-1, but I think I'll want to keep him as a F-15 fighter jet or the modern equivalent of it. Anyway, whatcha' think?

Both those look good. I like that jet mode of Fitor, it reminds me of a real-world version of what Cyclonus turned into.
