As far as blaming Loeb, we need to know exactly what Joey Q told him to write. He might have told Loeb to write to pole-reversal in, regardless how much sense it might make.

Heck, giben the temper Marvel's big man is reported to have, how clearly could ypu think or write on any given day.

and now having read the synopsis am glad I dropped all Marvel titles from my pull list.

I never get this mentality, myself. I mean, sure, do what makes you happy with your moneys, but to not buy something from a particular company that employs lots of different creators because a few of 'em did dreadfully wrong? Joe Q. may have approved this stuff and all, but he also approves comics that are great fun and high-quality. So, y'know, I'm sending a message with my moneys that they should keep making "Incredible Hercules", "Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers", "Exiles", "Agents Of Atlas", and whatever else I'm buying.

Or, like, with DC, I don't care for a whole lot about their current direction. So I don't buy most of their books. However, since, say, "Secret Six" is high-quality stuff and has Catman and Deadshot (and the uproarious Ragdoll), I keep buying it. I'm not supporting, say "Blackest Night" by doing so, or Barry Allen's resurrection. Geoff Johns doesn't see a penny of my money (well, at least not now that Legion of Three Worlds is over. The hell was I thinking?), but Gail Simone and Nicola Bryant do, so I'm totally okay with that. DC and I also have an understanding. They put out comics with the Metal Men in them, and I buy them.

One more thing 'bout Marvel, though. Does anyone else find the smoking ban going on at Marvel to be hilarious? Wolverine can dismember everybody, but can't have a cigar?

The funny part of that is that I hadn't even considered my comment from that angle. I dropped all of Marvel for financial reasons and dropped my pull down to pretty much just AHM and Spotlight. Sucks too because I was getting Thor and was enjoying it. Oh and I still get Buffy Season 8. Awesome stuff the Wheedster's turnin out there. I just meant that I was glad that I hadn't spent money that I would have on something that turned out to be pure suck. The downside is that I've missed out on whatever awesomeness came out as well.

Hadn't noticed the smoking thing but that is kind of funny.

So yeah, it was his idea, not Quesada's. I'm not sure what he means by making "the Ultimate line like what it HAD been" though. Really what he gives as examples of what is "unexpected" about the Ultimate line shows more of his lack of understanding about the Ultimate Universe. The X-Men were never rock stars, just Dazzler who was a punk rocker before joining the X-Men rather than a disco diva in 616. And Peter being 16? That's how old he was when he got his powers in both versions.
