IDW "Combiner Wars" comic discussion and speculation

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

But, back-writes go back to Costa's run. (I will concede that.) And, McCarthy's run was based on a significant enough change in premise (necessary at the time) that some might qualify it as a back-write.

But, it seems to have gotten worse after "Dark Cybertron".
I wasn't commenting specifically about time-slides or back-writes during Furman's run... I was commenting on the fact that he used generic comic tricks during his run, which (along with time-slides) you'd said: "are relativley new downgrades for "Transformers"". It's not at all, they've been there from the start.
I want to say it was either "Final Crisis" or "Multiversity" (the only two DC books I have read recently). There was some explication describing CoIE as a "partial collapse of the multiverse".
Do you have a specific quote? Because it was a total collapse of the DC multiverse.

I do not have the exact quote. But, like I said, it was likely in either "Final Crisis" or "Multiversity". If nothing else, I would need to root around and find my copy of "Final Crisis".

And, yeah, it was a hell of an under-sell. (Technically, it would be a "partial collapse" because there was still one left intact. But, yeah, it was a hell of a back-write after "Infinite Crisis" and "FlashPoint" made the original CoIE wholly irrelevant.)

That doesn't exactly support your argument with out actually having the quote to back it up... Having one left is still a total collapse of the "multiverse" as there is no "multi" about a singular universe. It's all collapsed down to one. A "partial collapse" would suggest more than one universe survived. And I wouldn't say Infinite Crisis and Flashpoint made CoIE irrelevant at all. CoIE made it clear what few universes survived were merged into the one remaining universe. So why couldn't those universes be separated back out again, or re-merged in different combinations? Thus making CoIE an essential part of those stories as well.

I do not have the comics handy. If you have them, and really need the quote, you can find it.

I don't own any of the Final Crisis or Multiversity issues. Besides, it's your argument, you should be the one to find the quote to support it.

You are sitting there doubting a quote in a discussion about comics. Most people would say "Oh, that was in some comic that I did not read. Odd. I might track it down at some point." They would not feign incredulity that a comic company back-wrote something away. They would not demand exact terms and issue numbers.

I didn't demand exact terms and issue numbers, nor am I feigning that a comic book company would back-write something. I'm just asking you where they said CoIE was a "partial collapse" of the multiverse. Which you seem to be more and more unwilling to provide, making your word that they said it seem doubtful, not the comics. Even if you don't have them handy, you still have those issues right? Well I don't. I highly doubt in this situation "most people" would take it upon themselves to track down those issues when it'd be much easier for you to just look it up to support your own argument. If the situation were reversed, I know I'd look it up when I had the chance, in fact, I'm sure that I have in such situations before. This is on you.

Like I said, it is either "Multiversity" or "Final Crisis", the latter is....someplace in a pile of comics that I really have no inclination to dig through.

Just pissed away page worth of replies because....I did not site an issue and page number in a casual discussion.

Again, I never asked for you to cite an exact issue or a page number. I simply asked for which story they said it in as I've never seen them refer to it that way, and you can't even give me that much because you're not sure which story it was. So then I asked for the quote, which you've refused to find when it would be so much simpler for you to do. The way you've avoided backing up your own claim like this really comes off as being shady Dom.

Yeah, real shady that I cannot remember what comic I saw a throw-away line in. Clearly, I am up to no good.

On a related note, a guy at the comic shop suggested that it might have been in the new "Infinite Crisis" series. Of course, he sold through on the early issues (and I did not keep my copies). If I hit a few shops on FCBD, I might try to find copies. On the other hand, I cannot believe I am feeding in to an OCD fixation on "teh pruuuf" over a passing comment.
