DDP's biggest mistake was being indecisive. One minute, time is passing normally. The next, it passes inconsistently, if at all. They tried catering to hard-core toyhacks. Then, they ignored them. DDP made bold declarations about style and tone....and then discarded them less than a year later.

And, they made the same stupid mistakes more than once. There were some great comics in that run. But, DDP was also a good case study of what is wrong with comics.
I'd buy it. This is another book that I'd love to write, because I just straight-up think they're doing it wrong. Although I do kind of like the approach of using a reluctant fan as the central character. Anyway, the right way to do this book?
I actually liked the meta-narrative angle. It fits with Lady Gaga's schtick while being consistent with the whole point of the FCBD book, bringing in new fans. I might actually buy this one as well, out of appreciation for the style.

But, I think that the other books from this series will be more like "The Secret Origin of Taylor Swift" and much less interesting.

No. It really is "girl from bumpkin-ville makes good".

It is not even inspiringly bad.

Nah. To hell with mainstream pop bullshit music. (Did we have a "Music is awesome" thread? The new Trent Reznor And Wife project released a song today.)

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

I think we do have a music is awesome thread. Check "the pinned links" thread.

As for Taylor Swift...wow. Dude, *I* thought that was cold. I make jokes about the Lady Gaga rumours, and even wrote a song about it to the tune of "Bad Romance". and that Swift thing was .....wow. (Is she rumoured to have FAS or something?)

I can see hating a truly reprehensible celebrity like Ward Churchill (cheering on terrorists), Kurt Vonnegutt (Nazi apologist), Salman Rushdie (over-grown child), or Mike Vick (dog fighter). I was quite happy to see Bobby Fisher die.

Taylor Swift is just annoying.

Maybe you were smirking when you said it. (That sort of thing is hard to "read" on a newsboard.)

Oh, come on, was what he wrote really that bad, objectively? People have children accidentally all the time, and they turn out to be perfectly well-functioning members of society.

It was just the "out of nowhere" aspect of it. I could see bashing her for a lack of talent. I could see bashing the lyrics of a particularly annoying song. (Oh, Rhianna....source of many laughs.)

Actually, given her background, she might well have been deliberate...big families and all that.

And, now, to lighten the mood, a Lady Gaga parody (to the tune of "Bad Romance"): -note: I am not saying I think the rumours are true. But, damn, this song is too good to give up.

She has a penis,
an external wee.

She wears her clothes tight,
and then you can see...

She's got some junk.
Junk, junk, junk.
She's got some junk.

Whoooaaahhhhhhoooohhhhooooohhhhh
Man junk in her pants!

Whoooaaahhhhhhoooohhhhooooohhhhh
Man junk in her pants!

It was a joke. Like O6 said, many people are created accidentally and turn out to be well rounded individuals. Not sure this is really gonna help my point, but I certainly wasn't planned. Don't get me wrong, my parents are glad I'm here, but my arrival was definately not on the schedule.
