Packaging. All the '87 Headmasters had this. Chromedome's head guy is named Chrome.Gomess wrote:Where'd you get this? How interesting! I'd appreciate a link. Don't tell me I'm lazy and that I should Google, since you know you're the laziest guy on this forum by your own constant admission.
...I can only imagine the other heads were named "Hard", "Brain" and "High". Nice!

Nah, they have strange Japanese TF-style simplifications of the Nebulan names. Hardhead has Ros, Brainstorm is Cana, etc. The best source I have is...well, the TF Wiki, but they don't make things up when it comes to this shit.

Re: Headmasters discussion
On the American version, the tiny robot was Spike, I believe, while the middle-bot was Cerebros, and the big one was Fortress Maximus. That's the way they appear in "The Rebirth" as well.Onslaught Six wrote:Yeah, that's...weird. My thinking is that someone at Hasbro had no idea those were actually Battle Beasts. On the other hand, they might not legally even be allowed to call them Battle Beasts.
See, this is why this shit is confusing. Who's Cerebros, here? Because in the original, the tiniest head is called Cerebros and the next robot up is named Fortress. Are they consistant with that? Or are both robots just referred to as "Cerebros?"andersonh1 wrote:But Cerebros makes silly faces at him like he's one? Yikes.
Re: Headmasters discussion
I noticed in the Headmasters dvd that Cerebros was the smaller robot and that he essentially has two transtectors: the larger head and then the Fortress Maximus base/body. Fortress Maximus is only mentioned as the name of Cerebros' starship/base. I've also noticed this for the others as well. The smaller robot is Chromedome and the larger robot is just his transtector, still referred to as Chromedome.

Yes. I know. I'm asking how they're clarified in the subs for this.andersonh1 wrote:On the American version, the tiny robot was Spike, I believe, while the middle-bot was Cerebros, and the big one was Fortress Maximus. That's the way they appear in "The Rebirth" as well.
This is what I'm looking for.Shockwave wrote:I noticed in the Headmasters dvd that Cerebros was the smaller robot and that he essentially has two transtectors: the larger head and then the Fortress Maximus base/body. I guess it looks like Shout is taking the Car Robots Fan Name bit, where the best name between the two gets used--Tow-Line rather than Wreckerhook but Speedbreaker rather than Sideburn. Cerebros 'is' a better name than Fortress, after all.
Re: Headmasters discussion
That is actually a good way to go about the naming convention.
On another note, is anybody else getting a sort of retro-vibe from this thread? Thing about it, we are talking about a Japanese series, and sorting names. There are a couple of people who are new to the series, or have not seen it at all, and a few who are familiar with it.

Re: Headmasters discussion
I would take threads about one of us watching an old TF show for the first time and everyone else chipping in / complaining over threads about which G1 homage toys we'd like to see ANY DAY.
That said, come on andersonh, next episode!! What, you got kids or something?!
