I'm not saying Spidey shouldn't have some muscle, but the 90's cartoon definitely made Peter Parker look buff. They gave him a stereotypical body builder hero look. He should be slimmer than that, more of an acrobatic physique.
Besides, the cartoon compensated by making every enemy Spider-Man fought absolutely friggin' huge.
I don't see how that's compensation for making Spidey buff... Several of Spidey's villains are pretty big to begin with. And the changes they made to characters like Doc Ock from an overweight man to a body builder look was even more jarring than it was for Spidey.
The fact that Kirsten Dunst won't be in the new Spidey at least makes me feel better about the first promo image from the X-Men - First Class movie, which looks like a bad photoshop. =/
But then when Cable comes from the future with the SECRET OF POUCHES, there'll be too *many*! It'll be a pouch overload!!
What First Class really needs is to be.. y'know.. about the original five X-Men getting to know each other and taking on the original Brotherhood / Sentinels. And why are they so scared of putting Mystique in a white dress?
Honestly, I won't be going to see it anyway, I find most comic book movies kinda passionless. Like they're scared to go full-on-nerd, and therefore come off seeming like any other action movie. Green Goblin with plastic Power Rangers armour? X-Men in black leather? Hohum.
i also love the idea of casting willem defoe as a scary character whose face moves... and then covering his face

Unfortunately, the other movies have established Iceman and Angel as too young to be a part of the original team... But still, why is Beast the only actual original member of the team in this cast? Cyclops and Jean should be there. If Emma is there, certainly Cyclops should given Wolverine Origin showed them rescued by Xavier at the same time. The other movies also establish Storm as one of the first X-Men, so where is she? Why is someone like Azazel on the team? He was never an X-Men. Heck, his only real defining moment in the comics was to be revealed as Nightcrawlers father. And... wait... why does Xavier have hair?

inspired.
Well the Green Goblin is supposed to wear a mask to cover his face...
But yeah, they should have come up with something better than a helmet to hide his face. The Green Goblin mask should allow him to show his expressions.

Yyyyeahhhh they also 'established' Sabretooth as having never met Wolverine before, and Bill Stryker as being a southerner. They can change it if they really want to. Wolverine Origin probably lowered the audience's expectations so much they could get away with featuring Iceman and Angel as original members in First Class and no one would care.
Azazel is there so he can bone Mystique. Prove me wrong. At least she's put a bloody shirt on this time, so she only looks slightly less daft.
