I do like the sun harvester idea, really do. A bit too much on the cosmic gibberwank side, but hey, these are The Movies--if there can't be a Whoamg Epic story in 'these,' where can there be?

Something else I forgot to mention earlier about this comic... The Fallen mentions "Once we find the Matrix, the power of the Allspark will be ours." Now, I assume this is in reference to the energy Harvester, but I find it an interesting term for them to use given the significant of the word in other TF mythos.

I assume that will be explicated on in the movie. The thing is, what is the importance of the Matrix? The All Spark functionally was the Matrix in the first movie.

The events of "Defiance" are not as gibber-wanky as other stories in TF have been. But, I get the feeling that they are going that way, really soon.

-well, that nullifies one of the few things I liked about the movie.

Well like I said, I believe the term Matrix here were referring to the energy Harvester somehow given that's the what they were building the Nemesis to find. And they explain in the comic that the Harvester basically blows up a star and uses that energy to re-energize the Allspark.

Given how far they want to avoid using the term "Matrix" in the last movie, (on a McGuffin it would have worked for no less), would they use it in the second movie for an energy collector?

The collector re-powers the Allspark. Obviously the two are corrected. Although I doubt the actual movie will call anything the Matrix.

Transformers-The Veiled Threat by Alan Dean Foster: While a bit more readable than "Ghosts of the Past", the prequel to the second "Transformers" movie is hardly anything to clear one's reading list for. While I have read worse, it is pretty clear Foster was writing to fill pages. There are many examples of odd language, both in dialogue and narrative. There are also some very awkwardly described sequences, and at least one mis-named character, (Longarm being listed as Ratchet). Foster does a bit of name-dropping, and capriciously rewrites several characters, while juggling movie elements. There is plenty of "the characters are as strong/weak as the writer needs/wants them to be, or remembers to make them. The big fight at the end is a cumbersome set-piece that seems written just to re-establish Barricade as having survived the first movie. And, the is a reference to the "Reign of Starscream comic just thrown in. Skip this book unless you really like "Transformers" or Foster. -grade: D
