TF Views

The 2015 cartoon looks different from "Transformers: Prime", skewing a bit more towards "Animated".

The new toys do not look like the Sunbow cartoon. (Admittedly, the old G1 figures did not much look like the show either.)


I am not terribly enthusiastic about the upcoming comic.

I am looking forward to Ramondelli's art. (His style is going to work well with combiners.) But, Stone is not the right artist for TF. Her art is too "soft". My enthusiasm for Barber and Scott has not changed much in recent months.


But, I do want good Stunticons and Superion. So, I may bite for the figures.

This is part of my point, yeah, in that the new toys look reasonably like the G1 characters allowing for the usual variance (and standard amount of 'Classics'-style redesigning). TF toys are generally 50% good for having the show look like them, anyway, as opposed to just having the general idiomatic designs represented (one pastime I had as a kid when getting new TF toys, particular BW and BM was to imagine what they would look like through their respective show's style filter were they to appear in them). My overall point is that somebody's buying New Menasor because it's a new toy that reasonably looks like Old Menasor from that old cartoon they liked.

But, Stone is not the right artist for TF. Her art is too "soft".

Because Transformers can only be drawn ONE way and ONE way only and if an artist DARES to apply a different style to it then they don't deserve to be working!

Stone's art is amazing. Screw you.

But, I do want good Stunticons and Superion. So, I may bite for the figures.

This is, really, the primary reason anyone should buy any toys: Because they're cool toys.

Stone is a good artist. But, her TFs do not look like robots.

I would like to see Stone on any number of cape and tight books. (Can you imagine her on "Green Lantern". I could see her doing some "Guardians of the Galaxy", provided it did not require too many external shots of ships and the like.)

They look robot-enough, in the same way the BM, Animated, TFPrime, and the upcoming RID15 do. More importantly they're distinctive and expressive, as comic characters should be.

There you go with this back-handed assholery again; she could draw ships just fine, her city-shots of Cybertron and a lot of the exterior tech involved (particularly how she handles Metroplex) look great. Seriously, what did Stone do to you? You seem determined to slam her down and insist on getting her off 'your book'.

Nothing against Stone. I just do not like her style on TF.

I hear DC is hiring though. (Man, Stone on "Green Lantern" would be amazing.)

This was always the way I took it. Like Hasbro saying "Hey, instead of just reproducing those things from 30 years ago, let's make new versions that are better toys".

As for Stone, her art doesn't really set me ablaze. I mean, I like the concept, using color to illustrate movement, but so much of her art just seems unfinished, like she didn't really pencil everything out and is relying mostly on color and inking to provide the definition.

About how big is Menasor compared to Generations Metroplex? I've been wishing for another big TF that is roughly his size to display with him, preferably a 'con.

Some of these look really good. Scratch that, a lot of these look good. I definitely like Bombshell and Powerglide. Optimus Prime isn't bad either.

Windcharger....well, I might buy that for the sake of my well known obsession with Windcharger.

The sample combincers all look half-assed, like what a kid would put together if he did not have any complete sets. Not inspired by this.....

Near as I can tell they're showing them off using only what will be available in Wave 1, hence, Drag Strip with everyone else. And since interchangeability is the 'entire point' of Scramble City-style combination (and this line in general), it makes sense to show off that 'feature'.
