Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I'm enjoying all the pics and front page posting. Thanks for all the effort you've put into reviewing!

The last figure I got of the whole shebang is one of my favorites. The sculpt and deco go very well together. And surprisingly, even though my sample had several defect issues, they weren't insurmountable to enjoying the figure -- take that, ya Nihilist bot!
Here Dead End is,, brain the size of a planet, and they can't find anything better for him to do than get reviewed by some human. Sigh. He's likely very unhappy about this.

I started liking Dead End a lot once I realized he was basically Marvin the Paranoid Android from Hitchhiker's Guide.

Or to put it another way, I care and will be checking out said review real shortly like.

Combiner Wars Skydive and G1 Air Raid (comparison for size and detail since Air Raid is the only Aerialbot I have):

Very nice comparisons, but because of the limited width of the forums, those large images are getting cut off before the G1 figure can be seen. I'd suggest using thumbnails, I can help you out if needed there.

It's funny to see Powerglide not that different in size from G1, yet how different Skydive and Air Raid (G1) are.

Glad to hear that, it means a lot!

Heh heh, yeah, it's funny to see how the G1 days had some pretty out-there ideas for a kids' toy line, stuff I couldn't imagine them trying today. Marvin the Paranoid Android was always such a great read in the book, and then the US movie got the best possible voice actor for that (one of the few things I enjoyed about that movie). The review could have been more tongue-in-cheek but it wasn't really what I was going for, I didn't want it to be like the TFwiki entry which is a howl but slows down the actual content.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Yeah, they were a bit large! I cut the size down and reposted.

Very good!

I just went to post my Silverbolt review only to find a technical snafu with the news system ate 2/3rds of that work. At least it gives me the chance to condense it down, which is what I'm doing right now.

Finished.

The official review of Silverbolt, just him, the Superion review is coming later:

I ended up liking this figure a little more than I expected. There are a number of issues to be sure, but the good outweighs the bad thanks to a pretty decent combiner mode.

And now it's the counterpart, Motormaster's review:

http://www.tfviews.com/news/toysandcollectibles/2332

And this is so frustrating because I really like Motormaster, I think he's a fun figure, but man is he sucky as a combiner.

Skydive gets the next review:
http://www.tfviews.com/news/toysandcollectibles/2361

Overall, I like Skydive slightly more than the other Aerialbot jets by a hair, but I still think Alpha Bravo and all of the Stunticons are better still. Oh, and I just realized this is the last of the jet reviews!

The review of Offroad is online:

http://www.tfviews.com/news/toysandcollectibles/2379

Although he's got his own foibles, he's generally quite acceptable, and I like his accessories.

Offroad's profile would seem to indicate that Wildrider died of those robo-concussions he was getting. (Note the phrasing "fallen Stunticon".) Damn. Just....wow.

So, both teams have a scenario where a guy either left or was booted and a scenario where a guy died. (Meanwhile, the Protectobots are apparently hiring.)

Ah well, in this case the multiple official origins are a benefit as they legitimize ignoring the comics.
