Wow, really current and hilarious stuff there. You gonna give us some Mariska Hargitays from "The Love Guru" too? :p

BWprowl wrote:All of that's your opinion, and you are entitled to it. I personally think Sky-Byte's toy is beautiful and his character is amusing. Surely we can still get along!
I DON'T SEE HOW!!! ;)

I've voted for Wheeljack, because I like Wheeljack - he's a cool car and has a unique look and he's not "the best" or "the worst", he's just a unique member of the Ark crew. Oh, and he's also THE FIRST TRANSFORMER EVER SEEN MOVING. But you know, whatever else works for you, it's all good. Except Sky-Byte, you'd have to be high on crack to think that's a better choice than Wheeljack, BW Megs, Arcee/Arcee, and Hot Rodinmypants / Fakeimus Prime (man they were harsh in excising TFTM and G1 season 3 from his bio).

Oh, JT- you really don't get it, do you? You don't. ;)

Okay, here's a little context to why so many people love SkyByte. People were pissed off about Beast Machines. The entire fandom was bitching endlessly for the whole 2 years that Beast Machines was on. That's all they would do from sun up to sun down. I nearly left the TF fandom because of it. The constant whining and bitching and all of it- goddam it was annoying.
RiD was the right show at the right time. It was light-hearted, it was goofy and silly, and didn't try to be serious in the least. You can point out all its problems and shortcomings, but at the time, it's fun atmosphere was just the thing I needed.

BW Megatron, G1 Wheeljack, Hot Rod/Rodimus and Arcee- they all got me into the fandom, but SkyByte kept me from leaving it.

First, let me commend you for actually bothering to try to explain your interest in Sky-Byte, it's pretty much the only one I've seen so far.

Second, thanks so much for the condescension. On the other hand, you're off your nut. I was around during BW and RID and the UT, the idea that I somehow am lacking context for RiD and Sky-Byte is simply wrong-headed -- I was a TF reporter for Figures.com before they picked up BWTF at that time. BM may have cheesed some fans off, but RiD was only the answer for transition to the UT, it was only filler capturing the momentum coming off BM which was still pretty strong -- at that time, the basics and then Spychangers were the best-selling TFs by a significant margin. The way Hasbro saw it, kids were the ones primarily driving the line and thus had to be pandered to, RiD was only a stopgap to that change of streams to get more kid focus through Armada.

I'm glad Sky-Byte made you happy, but many fans I knew found RiD products to be hit-or-miss and the show to be nigh-unwatchable. In any case, while you might like the show, I cannot see anything in what you said that makes Sky-Byte HALL OF FAME-worthy; he might be a personal favorite, but just because we like something doesn't mean it's great, it just means we like it. I liked Armada Sideswipe w/ Nightbeat, one of the ugliest figures in that line, doesn't mean I think that's enough to warrant HOF.

Cool.

I might feel the need to apologize if it weren't for the fact that I was only poking a little fun, not intentionally trying to condescend you, and the fact that you just got done saying that anyone that votes for SkyByte is a nutjob on crack.

You know what- I apologize anyway. Why is HOF voting always such a bitch? This is just supposed to be for fun.

I'm still sinking all of my votes into Sky Byte. Not really because I have any attachment to Sky Byte, but because I feel that RID needs to be represented in the HoF and he's the one nominated. While I liked the Beast era, I think it had gotten too far away from the orinal concept and RID felt like a return to the glory days of G1. The Autobots had alt modes you'd actually see on the road and cartoon was fun and didn't take itself too seriously. For the first time in about a decade I'd actually been excited enough about the toys to keep checking the stores every week to see what came in. So my vote isn't really for Sky Byte, it's for RID.

I'm voting BW Megatron. I don't think BW needs to win the vote a 3rd year in a row but I can't deny he's a great character and deserves it. Yeeeeess.

I'll also give some votes to Wheeljack. He was one of my top favorite G1 characters.

I think we have a pretty good percentage of RID-positive guys here. After all, a lot of us were involved in RID2, possibly the only piece of RID-related fanfic ever.

Sorry. I am just here for the forums.

Well, for the moment, I work in a computer lab. And, it is actually "1 vote per browser, per computer, per day". Of course, for me to properly exploit that, I would have to explain so much computer hopping. But, I might make some use of it. :)
I've voted for Wheeljack, because I like Wheeljack
Been pulling for Arcee, but I can see Wheeljack. Objectively, he is not much more changed than Jazz was last year, and I pushed hard for Jazz.
(man they were harsh in excising TFTM and G1 season 3 from his bio).
Well, they mention him causing some kind of disaster for Prime...

RiD was the right show at the right time. It was light-hearted, it was goofy and silly, and didn't try to be serious in the least. You can point out all its problems and shortcomings, but at the time, it's fun atmosphere was just the thing I needed.
I can see this. (And, for a time, I was the biggest fan of "Beast Machines" on this forum.)

RiD was light and doofy. I laughed at least once per episode. The problem, however, is that I was not always laughing with RiD, but at RiD. It set the bar for TF cartoons lower than it had been at any other time, including G1. That is some serious reaching down there.

I'll also give some votes to Wheeljack. He was one of my top favorite G1 characters.
Friendly advice, treat this as all or nothing. Skybite's inclusion, while absurd, makes this an honest race. This is not going to be "Hasbro chooses G1 characters, fans choose the guy in the fursuit", because there are two guys in fursuits. Skybite might split the beast vote enough for a G1 character to go over. As much as I want that, and as much as I am stuffing the ballot box for a G1 character, I ain't going to pretend what you are doing is going to help your character go over. NNNooooooo.

I have seen at least 2 other pieces of RiD fanfic. And, they were *bad* even by fanfic standards.

I seriously can't understand this. No, I can't! I really can't! RID was awesome because it was riffing on how hilarious TF-as-anime could be. It's like one big Victory parody.

Admittedly, it was primarily written by twelve year olds, so it's probably way more awesome in our memories than it actually was. (It's probably better that it's lost to time.)

Pfff. You know it's not an honest race, not when certain fans pulled some stunts last year just to get a character like Erector nominated. And you're even admitting to stuffing the ballot box not for the character you think should win, but rather due to your own prejudice against 'beast' characters.

I'm voting for the characters I would like to see win. And that's that.
