Marvel vs. Capcom vs. DC! Awesome return to a sprite-based fighter format with 100+ characters! And Superman as the most broken character in fighting game history!

Re: the stupid ideas thread
Light Yagami winz moar. (very rare for a MUGEN char to be declared "non-tournament worthy" XD)BWprowl wrote:And Superman as the most broken character in fighting game history!

We need an "awesome ideas thread" for posts like that.BWprowl wrote:Marvel vs. Capcom vs. DC! Awesome return to a sprite-based fighter format with 100+ characters! And Superman as the most broken character in fighting game history!
Also, this should totally be Superman's finishing move:

Superman's finishing move should be boring the opponent to death with his bland abilities.

I like Death Note a lot less now that I realize that Light is about as quintessential a Mary Sue as you can get...Gomess wrote:Light Yagami winz moar. (very rare for a MUGEN char to be declared "non-tournament worthy" XD)

Re: the stupid ideas thread
Yeah, that really pissed me off once it became obvious that it was just going to have them going back and forth constantly figuring out what the other was going to do and taking measures to prevent it, magically. I thought it'd get interesting once they got handcuffed together, but then, whoops, magic hand wave memory eraser, and then there comes in this stupid subplot with the corporate guys. And then...well, the stuff that happened later happened, and it just got unwatchable.
Re: the stupid ideas thread
Death Note: the most infamously shark-jumping anime/manga in history.
Who likes Mello??
I'm glad it's so well known; it distracts people from Hokuto no Ken and Saint Seiya, which also had enormous moments of plotless rubbish later on.

Re: the stupid ideas thread
I would've liked death note if everyone in Japanese class didn't ruin it for me by taking it seriously. If I could watch it as a MST3K worthy ham fest (shit, I STILL imagine Shatner voicing Light and BRIAN BLESSED voicing L).
Also, what is with Japanese series and giving people random foreign nouns for names? That's like me writing a story and naming one of my characters Raba Raampu.
EDIT: And while flipping through the channels I caught Code Geass last night. It, a show with the random, made up name 'Lelouch" which makes no sense, had some generic anime kid fighting a blue eyed, red haired, naked woman who was proclaiming HOW JAPANESE she was, and stating her name was... Collin. WTF?

Re: the stupid ideas thread
Death Note is HORRIBLY humourless, it's true.
So's, I dunno, Evangelion, but its sheer bizarre convoluted stooopid EPICNESS stops that from ruining it. Evangelion is more like a drug-induced experienced, whereas Death Note is clearly an author TRYING to make ends meet after they've killed off their most popular character.
And Code Geass is *sort of* meant to be about a society where the evil British rule over the poor, subjugated Japanese. So, something like the scene you described doesn't sound too weird.
But man am I tired of hotheaded youngsters being purposefully bestowed with vague powers that they might save the world.

Re: the stupid ideas thread
Totally. That's why Ethereal has none of it--the two main characters are middle-aged grizzled misogynist war vets. One of them is after the bad guys because they blew up his apartment, which destroyed all his Stuff. And also his girlfriend. I guess. (His words, not mine.) And they only have the mystical power of SLICING PEOPLE TO PIECES.
