Hasbro's Masterpiece Rodimus Prime

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

God Magnus being successor is just as dull and out of character as Speedbreaker being it.

I'm going with "there doesn't need to be a successor since the whole Car Robots mission was basically a boondoggle".

And hey, Big Convoy not handing his Matrix over to anyone else makes actual character-sense. I guess it does for Lio Convoy too, if we.. assume he *had* a character.. Fire Convoy is much the same. Not a very interesting guy. Makes it hard to choose a successor. If we even need one.

You sure? The pictures I've seen, the Matrix with Rodimus actually looks to be more detailed to look like it did in TFTM than the one that came with MP-01. The crystal in the middle for example looks to have a more of a rounded jagged shape to it where as the one that came with Optimus was flattened.
I am pretty sure, but don't have them to physically compare. I will in exactly 1 week though, buying him at Comic-Con.

Perhaps, but it's not what happened so we can't say for sure. Also, I just don't like the name "Nemesis Prime", it's very lazy like "Darth Scaryface" Sith names. He's their nemesis, ooh!

Shockwave wrote:And... sort of bringing this thread back on topic, BBTS has a listing for Black Rodimus Prime. Great, now Hot Rod is getting the "Optimus" treatment (ie; constantly being repainted black, white, whatever...). Ugh. Did we really need an evil Hot Rod?
The Japanese are just trying to recoup their expensive tooling, knowing there is a receptive audience over there to such silliness.

Red+orange colors are fire colors. blue+white are ice colors.
You can get burned by extreme cold as much as extreme hot.

Well then Optimus Prime ("Best First"), Ultra Magnus ("Excessively Great") and certainly Rodimus Prime ("-__-") are equally lazy. =3

Granted, "Nemesis" isn't a Latin word, so it doesn't even fit the scheme, but "Rodimus" isn't even Pig Latin.

Rodimus Prime is an exceptionally lazy name, it's literally copy-catting Optimus Prime. But Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ultra Magnus, those are creative names as they aren't using words we're routinely familiar with in our language. Nemesis is a word we use in our language to mean evil opponent, its origin is the Greek goddess of the same name who was the goddess of revenge, but it's a word we use to describe a very specific thing.

I guess we come from different worlds, then, because "Optimum", "Prime", "Ultra", "Magnitude", "Mega", etc. are all pretty common words to me. "Megatron" is about as creative as "Deathstorm" or "Bloodblade" or something.

I just think all of TF's faux-Latin names are silly and, at the worst, don't even translate properly. That just smacks of "dis forrin langwidge iz kewl", and that's a shame. BANZAITRONNN~~

(And yes, I realise the character in my sig is named "STRONGER". Nothing's perfect. =3 But I still think Nemesis is no worse a name than Optimus!)
