Considering the Universe Autobot figures we're getting are primarily ones who've already had Alternators, it sucks so very much of the "Oh hey, that character!" feeling out of it. We're getting a new toy, but the character doesn't buzz us like it would've were we playing "Guess the Homage" with Energon several years ago. There's no "Wow, it's an homage to that guy!", it's all to be expected as they're actually the same characters.

Of late, I'm excited about getting Hot Shot, Cyclonus, Cosmos, Wheelie, Predacon Bruticus, and the RID Robot Heroes. Cheetor and Dinobot would be exciting if they weren't Cheetor and Dinobot. How many toys has Cheetor had, again?

Of course, I shouldn't complain ever again. They gave me Classics Onslaught. Classics 'Onslaught'. With light-up eyes and Master Chief optic panel. It's so mindblowingly awesome that I still haven't comprehended it.
We're finally getting some new characters remakes/homages though, like Onslaught. Fracture, Breakaway, and Crankcase come to mind as well.

But yeah, we've had enough variations on Cheetor. Where's the Rhinox update?

Original Rhinox, Transmetal Rhinox, FoxKids! Rhinox, Armada Rhinox, BWX Rhinox, Telemocha Rhinox (there is one, right?). Yeah, Rhinox has had plenty of toys, and I coulda thrown in a coupla Tankorrs if I'd wanted to.

Bwuh? This comes out when? It's what?
Is he actually named that, mind?

Anyway, it's a CybScourge repaint as RID Bruticus.

'Yes.'

That sounds...impossibly awesome. I'm now quite glad that I passed on both previous versions of Scourge.

*Hopes he still has the Kaiju roar*

It really, really is.

Seriously, between a 'new-mould Onslaught toy' and an 'RID Bruticus homage," Hasbro is slowly fulfilling my every desire. All I need now is a new Polar Claw toy. Please?

I'm pretty happy with my Cybertron Scourge, and wound up passing on the ol' blue dragon...but that Bruticus is so colorful and spectacular-looking...

Personally, I'm not really feelin' the new Classics stuff. Octankor was a huge dissappointment, and he was the only one of the G1 guys I was really interested in getting, and then only because he's a triplechanger. I would love to get some new beastformers, too, but looking at the pictures, Dinobot and Cheetor really don't look too good. Maybe some better pictures, or seeing them in person might change my mind, but their prospects aren't looking too good at the moment.
I might pick up a few of the Cybertron repaints that I didn't get when they were out before, and maybe even Powerglide and/or Silverstreak, but over all, the Universe line just isn't grabbing me.

I know the feeling, I really do. It's too compromised by the movie's standards, the original Classics line seemingly had a lot more freedom and less of a directive from above. Miss the rubsigns, sniff. The flagship Deluxes in the line, Prowl and Sunstreaker, are kinda average in comparison to their snazzier redecos, so I'd definitely suggest picking up Sideswipe and Streak over those two if you haven't already.

Onslaught is really good, being different from the majority of the stuff we've had recently - he maintains a pretense of realism while being a giant kickass robot, updates without too much compromise, and is certainly a solid puchase. Powerglide's surprisingly good too, though I can't speak for his US release. Complex, cleverly updates the original design, great articulation, solid in both modes.. Silverbolt's a mixed bag, the other Ultras are great.

Deluxes are hit or miss, Galvatron is definitely miss, and OcTankor verges on it. Ironhide's an acquired taste. There's just not enough variety in the line at this scale.

Recolours irk across the board, more's the pity.

I found these boxed photos of Universe Bruticus and Superion on Tformers.

I'll probably get Bruticus since I was only able to get 3 of the 5 from Engergon. I have the first Superion Maximus, so I may pass on that one.
