Your Classics Wishlist
Re: Your Classics Wishlist
I thoroughly expect Hasbro to release all six at some point and I wouldn't put AM TC past them.
I thought about using Acid Storm for customizing, but I just couldn't justify buying that figure again.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
I just do not get the hate you and JT have for Acid Storm.
Hey, I have one! I got one!
How about Hasbro makes a good triple (or more) changer, that lacks any clumsy or "because we say so" modes, or they make a good merge team that at least equals the old "Go-Bots" Puzzlor figure?

My hate exists on 2 levels: 1 (and this is in no particular order) He suffers from the same retcon shoehorning into G1 that Sunstorm does and 2, his color scheme is just freakin' terrible. I have one too, but I hate it. I only bought it out of some misguided need to have all the seekers or something.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
I'll give you the first one, even though I've liked that guy ever since first seeing him in the cartoon, but I gotta disagree on the color scheme. Leaving aside the blue and yellow bits, he's got a rather pleasing green camoflauge pattern going. And by "pleasing", I don't mean "Just to me because I have retarded love for outrighteously bright things" but "pleasing" like, "Maybe normal people would like this, too." Besides, jungle camo on a jet makes sense because..of...um, all the times that jets are flying through the jungle?transtrekkie wrote:My hate exists on 2 levels: 1 (and this is in no particular order) He suffers from the same retcon shoehorning into G1 that Sunstorm does and 2, his color scheme is just freakin' terrible.
All right, failed there. But he's still kinda pretty.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
There are jets with green camo, so why not Acidstorm? (Somebody else can do the research on the logic of a low flying F15.)
I do not mind Acid Storm's profile as he is not back-written in as a super important character who we have only heard of now. He is just a guy who flies with a specializedc regiment. He does his job and does not piss off his boss and co-workers.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
You've been on about Puzzler lately, haven't you? I mean, he looks kinda nice, I'll admit, but the combination scheme is the same 'each bot becomes a limb' setup that I've become so, so tired of. Plus the overall effect is more Megazord-y than Transformers-y, but it's a Go-Bot, so that's okay, I guess.Dominic wrote:or they make a good merge team that at least equals the old "Go-Bots" Puzzlor figure?
JRX. Best Gestalt ever. There, I said it.
Acid Storm is pretty cool. I kinda wish they'd give us the other two Rainmakers.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
Puzzlor is great. Yes, he uses the configuration you mention. But, he is more self-contained than most TF merge teams, even now. And, he pulls it off more gracefully. JRX is the only TF merge-team that I will even consider to be equal to Puzzlor. And, even then, it took Hasbro/Takara ~15 years.
Puzzlor has self-contained hands, head, and feet for the combined form. Contrast this with the "Energon" combiners that still use clumsy add-on bits.

-of course, I could not tell you anything about Puzzlor beyond it being a cool toy.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
See, that's the thing. For the time he came out, I can see that Puzzler was revolutionary, but at this point, he's simply right where the standard should be... which is pretty sad when you consider how few TF Gestalts measure up to that standard (Magnaboss and Tripredacus, plus JRX and Build King. Though Legends Devastator should hopefully give us one more).
It's curious how often we ask for merge teams when so many of them turn out half-assed and bad (just look what happened with the Energon Combiners). Maybe it's just because the ones that do manage to work out turn out so fantastic, but why do we seem to be willing to ignore so much failure in this regard, and just continue asking for more merge teams?

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
What would you want them to become? A merge form without limbs is gonna look ridiculous. The interchangeable limbs thing adds versatility to the concept. The only thing that had always irritated me about the original Devastator was that they weren't interchangeable.BWprowl wrote:Dominic wrote: I'll admit, but the combination scheme is the same 'each bot becomes a limb' setup that I've become so, so tired of. The rainmakers were nothing more than army-building background characters. Hasbro's starting to produce them is little like Hasbro saying "Hey, remember that one guy in the back in the group shot at Jabba's Palace? Well he's getting a figure." That's what the "rainmakers" were and frankly I think they just should have stayed that way. We don't need figures of every random background alien in Star Wars and we don't need the rainmakers either.
