Oh, big man has a chance to post about his comics? Oh really? Well, then.

Harumph.

Y'know, it's been a while since I got a genuinie "Holy Shit!" reaction from a TF comic, but
Spoiler
Super Megatron's
appearance really did it for me. It looks like the storyline's really gonna pick up from here.

And if you ask me
Spoiler
Hot Rod looks pretty dead. I'm not counting out the Matrix reviving him though.
Yep, nice to see an issue that lets me make use of the spoiler tags.

Yeah, I'd have to agree
Spoiler
despite the Matrix looking like it's out of power, I wouldn't be surprised if it somehow brings Hot Rod back to life
. Overall, this was a great issue. Especially great to see
Spoiler
Megatron is repaired and back online
. Although I'm a little surprised he didn't even give
Spoiler
the Matrix
a second thought here when he was the one so focused on getting it in AHM. Guess Costa has a different view point on his motivations than McCarthy did. Not that mind in the least, as I thought that was a mis-step on McCarthy's part in the first place.

Eh,
Spoiler
Megatron
wanted the Matrix in AHM because it would fuck with the Autobots' morale (the Matrix is more of a symbolic power than a physical one at this point in this continuity). He figured that since the Autobots already think they've lost it to the Decepticons, he might as well just destroy the thing and be done with it.

That was not why he took the Matrix in AHM. Remember, only a few guys in charge knew the Matrix was missing, and they didn't elect to inform the rest of the Autobots about it. If it had been to take a shot at their morale, he would have made sure they all knew he had it. Kup even explained at one point it was the reason the war began in the first place (despite being in contradiction to "Megatron: Origin"). Even most of the Decepticons were in the dark about it until Starscream showed up with it.

And it's impossible to say that the Matrix is simply more of a symbolic power in this continuity. We haven't seen any situations where it would demonstrate any of its powers yet. That doesn't mean it doesn't have great power like it does in other continuities though.

Pretty sure we do not need spoiler tags at this point. But....
Spoiler
The Matrix was a nice trophy, that is all. Even if it has "amazing cosmicy OMFG power", Megatron saw it as a trophy. (He demonstrated no interest in it as a power source.) Tossing it out with Hotrod made for a better presentation than tossing out Hotrod while taking the Matrix.

I am willing to bet that the Matrix looking like it is out of power was a printing error more than anything else.

For some reason, my comic shop didn't get this issue. What. The. fuck.

So, I would love to be able to comment on this, but god knows when I'll actually be able to get a copy.

Ah, Diamond Comics, poisoning the well while the ruin the hobby.

Transformers #13:
IDW really needs to settle on a regular art team for this book. Experimentation is one thing. But, consistently rotating art teams can easily be seen as a sign that a company does not have faith in a title or team. Roche plays around a bit with applying his own style to Roche's character models. A few old threads are played out and/or abandoned. (The most obvious drop/abandoning being Starscream's fate. But, given how readers reacted to seeing characters unsure of what to do during AHM, one can hardly blame Costa for shying away from this plot thread.) The resulting changes are abrupt but not wholly inconsistent with the series as a whole. Toy-hacks are likely going to be displeased. But, for me, that is just icing on the cake. And, I will be happy if the McGuffin lost in this issue is never seen again.
Grade: A This is damned good book and people should be reading it.

Where's the damn Magnificense? I mean, okay, it was a wanky idea in the first place--but dropping it into nothingness is worse!

Also, I don't like Megatron being back so relatively-soon when comparatively little has been done in his absence. Of course, that might be me really, really disliking his design (Why so much black?! Megatron isn't black!) but hey.

Of course, this is me being all "This is G1 and G1 should be G1." If this were Alternate New Continuity, hey, Megs can be as black as Mr. T. But...I dunno, that's me.
