Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
Actually, the only people who are going to be able to buy and use the custom class figure without the class are going to be people with the skills and (physical) tools to put them together. As I understand it, these are going to be unassembled figures. I have the skills, but would have to buy tools. Shockwave is the only member of this forum I can think of who has the tools on hand. (Maybe JT and Anderson....)
Similarly, blind habit completists will buy the kits and just put them in bags.

-considering buying the needed tools....just in case.
late edit: I meant to post this in the BotCon thread. Whoops.

TFW claims the figure will come assembled, but unpainted.

You'd be better served eating your money, I think, at least you'd get some nutritional value out of it that way. The disk minions I own are almost uniformly terrible, and the best of them - Laserbeak/Soundwave/Ratbat - is only mediocre. Your money is better spent on that upcoming MP Soundwave with his homies.Tigermegatron wrote:I was thinking about buying those 2013 Generations disk-casettes/minions. But I decided to get the Hasbro TRU MP Soundwave with the 5 MP Cassettes/minions instead.
I do find those Generations 2013 Disk/minions interesting & funny at the same time,As they look like Hockey pucks in Disk mode.
Since,I bought Generations 2013 Soundwave & Blaster,I do own two disk bots, this is enough for me.
I'll likely be changing my tune when Ramhorn comes out though.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
I did some collection rearranging today and decided that it was time for at least one of my Bruticuses to go on my Decepticons shelf. I have both the retail release and the G2 repaint. I decided I want to keep the retail boys in their individual modes and combine G2 Bruty. (I may eventually decide to swap the Onslaughts around, since I already have a few G1-themed Onslaughts on my shelf. He's one of the few characters I'd let that happen to.)
After spending some time putting him together, though, and finding an arms configuration that I could at least live with, I go over to put him on the shelf and find out he's 'too damn tall' to do so. I ended up comparing him to some other dudes and he 'towers' over ClaMegs and G1 Shockwave. This dude is a beast. Why did anyone ever complain about his size?
Also, maybe it's because I've had a year or whatever to get used to it, but his proportions somehow make a lot more sense now. Even Onslaught being the core works. He doesn't seem shrimpy or anything at all.

Because he's $75 and only 11 inches tall, and skinny.Onslaught Six wrote:I did some collection rearranging today and decided that it was time for at least one of my Bruticuses to go on my Decepticons shelf. Re: Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread
I bought & transformed the Generations FOC Voyager sized Grimlock toy last night.
My quick highlights review of this toy is as follows:
1- I think the Classics 1.0 Deluxe Grimlock toy is a bit better sculpted & higher engineered in both modes compared to FOC Voyager Grimlock in both modes. THE ONLY THING NOT MAKING 1.0 GRIMLOCK AWESOME IS HIS TINY DELUXE SIZE. Had 1.0 Grimlock been voyager size it would be a better toy than FOC Voyager Grimlock.
2- To me & probably others,The best part of FOC Grimlock is his Dinosaur mode. I prefer to keep this toy in dino mode on a display shelf because the robot mode doesn't look that great. Also i'm a huge fan of 1986 season 3 cartoon Grimlock being mostly in dino mode.
3- The main problems I have with FOC Voyager Grimlock's toy,is that weird dull Caramel color chosen for Grimlock's robot chest, dino claws & other toy parts. This was no doubt Hasbro being cheap by using cheap dull colors. I really hate all these hasbro cheap short cuts they use,as they always ruin decent toys.
4-Secondary main problem is the enginerred joints structure that collapse when transforming the dino legs into robot arms & vice versa. these things are annoying & add no positive to this toy.
5- I do like that the FOC Grimlock toy has some 1985 Grimlock toy homages like the way the dino head filps back on to the back in one piece like the 1985 dino head did. I like the homage styled dino arms & how they can form the same parts in robot mode like the 1985 toy did.
6- I'm not a fan of the overly sized & weird shaped rounded off upper chest plate the robot mode has. I'm hoping the BW TM1 Megatron repaint has a newer upper robot chest piece. I'm thinking this weirdly/over sized robot chest piece might look a bit better when it gets the vacumized gold shinny chrome that the up comming grimlock verse Bruticus set will have.
7- I do like the light up lever activated dino head & robot chest parts. I like how the lever can open the dino mode & move the neck a bit.
8- I really like the robot weapons. I like how the weapons be be pegged in on the dino mode.
9- I love how easy this toy was to transform back & forth into both modes.
10- Not a fan of the weird sculpt on the robot face plate.
11- I suspose the toy in both modes gets points for having decent poseabilty, tight joints & decent stabilty in both modes.
12- The sculpted smaller details seem to work better on this FOC Grimlock toy compared to the 1.0 Grimlock toy.

You don't own Unicron, Primus, MP-01 Optimus? All of which are taller, more solid, more articulated, more stable, thicker, and cheaper than Bruticus.

My Unicron and Primus are in storage at another house. Bruticus is the biggest dude I have next to Megaloplex.
