I would agree with you on this except for the fact that IDW is forcing this trash into continuity as a way to compel regular readers to pick up thier in-house property. If this was like every other TF/something crossover in the last ~10 years, done in a contemporary style but out of context with the main book, it would be far more acceptable.

As it stands now, the TF portion has important threads from the main series.

I get what you're saying. One good thing I could point out is that you could buy the TF portion of the crossover without the need of getting the other parts of it.

You know something that surprised me was that some people at the IDW forum liked TF infestation better than the ongoing, I mean really? I like Infestation because I find the idea to be fun but that's it. With all it's flaws the ongoing is still better written. I wouldn't like to be in the shoes of Mike Costa, too much pressure.

Actually, the correct term was "chromium age".

TF "Infestation" has two huge internal advantages. 1) Nick Roche, an artist who can apparently do no wrong. I have not bothered to track numbers, but I imagine that there are a fair number of fans who will buy and praise just about anything Roche does. 2) Dan Abnett, probably the most high-profile writer the TF comic has ever seen. And, Abnett could credibly equal (or surpass) Foster or David (from the movie related novels) in terms of following. (I admit to Abnett being a factor in my buying "Infestation" at all.


There is also the problem that Costa is writing above the maturity/literacy of a good chunk of the fandom. Actual writing is not kewl enough.

And, it gets worse. If IDW is using "Infestation" to lure in readers for their in-house property, Abnett is using it to force readers to buy "Heart of Darkness". Kup gets his memories back, and then gets shunted into the Dead Universe. There are also some pointless time-travel references as well. Jhiaxus is apprently out of the Dead Universe, which Abnett may or may not be intending to explain in "Heart of Darkness".

This series is just about as loud, obnoxious and intrusive as anything Marvel did in the 90s.

On that note, I forgot to mention that the art is *really* not helpful in terms of figuring out what the hell is going on in the second issue. Even Roche can have an off day it seems.

On Infestation TF, the idea could've been really good but the execution was more focused on the sales part instead of the story part. It is a shame. And Jhiaxus suddenly appears out of nowhere, what's up with that?

Some are speculating that Jhiaxus somehow escaped the Eye of Terror, or that he was visible through a portal.

Yeah, the whole thing ain't too clear.


That said, GW = Games Workshop. You said you were a fan of Abnett, so I figured it was worth asking.
