As I mentioned before, why wouldn't the others correct Kup if he got it wrong? And given the significance of the Matrix, why wouldn't have occurred to Megs to steal it before now? No, it makes no sense for the writer to bring that point up when Megatron has just stolen the Matrix. It's very clear what the intent of the writer is, and it clashes with the established continuity.

Yeah well how about you shut the hell up until the thing finishes and AHM Coda comes out and stuff.
...Seriously, this is the equivalent of you being that guy in the middle of the movie who goes "Waitaminute, this doesn't make sense, this is stupid," when it's going to get explained in the last half of the movie.
They didn't correct Kup because Kup's line is a throwaway line and 'nobody really cares.' It's a vague allusion to something in the past and that's all. It doesn't mean anything.

A throwaway line that doesn't mean anything? Vague allusion to something in the past? You've got to be kidding. Megatron currently
has the Matrix. It's not just the past, it's the present. And this is a fairly significant part of this story. It means Megatron probably has something big in mind, given the power the Matrix has. And given Kup says the war started all over the Matrix changes the whole meaning of the war from what has previously been shown in this continuity.

How about, no. I'm free to analyze the story as it is revealed. Why should I wait? Granted, they
may answer these concerns as the story progresses... if it progresses. Then again, they might not. Either way, I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to comment on it as I see it just because you don't like what I have to say.
And I'd equate this situation more to watching a sequel and saying "Waitaminuite, that's not how it happened in the first one, that doesn't make sense". And who knows if the second half will explain it.

What reason would they have to think he was wrong? Kup's the old guy, who was THERE for this stuff. If he can't keep his history straight (And please remember, in IDW, KUP IS CRAZY), then what chance do the young guys have in getting full story? I mean christ, when Kup brings up the whole thing about the war starting because of the Matrix, it's like he's telling it to Jazz because Jazz didn't already know. So maybe this really is just some batshit crazy story Kup cooked up while in rehab.
And Megatron only now thought of taking the Matix to use it's power for his EEVIL PLAN because he's G1 Megatron and every week he comes up with some NEW ULTIMATE PLAN that has the audience going "And why didn't you just try that in the first place?".
But really, Six is right. The backstory really doesn't matter in the end, the important thing here is "Oh shit, Megatron has the Matrix." I personally don't care WHEN he thought up this plan or how much it gels with Furman's aggrivating run, I'm much more interested in finding out what he IS GOING to do with it.
Also, maybe I'm WAAAAAAAAY off base here, but for some reason I was always under the impression that Megatron Origin was recycled Dreamwave Material, like the BW comics.

Wasn't it stated at some point that in IDW continuity there was no Matrix? Maybe it was the Furman interview in the preview comic, or maybe it was online somewhere. Or am I misremembering?

Well Kup apparently got better, and that's my point exactly. Kup isn't wrong here. But it contradicts the established continuity here.

No, if Kup is right, and the war started over the Matrix, Megatron would have been targeting the Matrix from the very start of the war, not just with the evil plan of the week. The thing is, we've seen he's had several opportunities to take it before now and hasn't.

The backstory is still a part of the story and it's important to know how things came to be this way in the story. And like I said, it's a fairly significant distinction if the Matrix is the reason the war started or not.
Also, maybe I'm WAAAAAAAAY off base here, but for some reason I was always under the impression that Megatron Origin was recycled Dreamwave Material, like the BW comics.
It was in the planning stages for Dreamwave, but obviously that never came to be. It was "retooled" to fit the new IDW continuity, something AHM doesn't do very well.

Furman indicated in interviews it went to the Dead Universe with Nova Prime but he apparently changed his mind because later issues reveal Optimus had it and Nova had "The Darkness" which is "like" the Matrix.

Y'know, did it ever occur to you that maybe Megatron Origin is the one that doesn't fit into continuity very well?

Many of these questions could, (*should*), be answered in the "Coda" book that is on its way. Given that IDW is trying to rebuild the ship as it sails, I can forgive some bumps along the way, so long as IDW acknowledges them and smooths them over in a reasonable amount of time.
Sparky is right in his count of continuity flubs. But, I am willing to give IDW a bit more time to solve the various problems.
Either way, "All Hail Megatron" is one of the best TF comics I have read in a while.

Exactly. AHM is 'still going on.' That's why we don't have any answers yet.

I recall Bumper dying, but was Megazarak's Minicon/Nebulon even in "Megatron: Origin"? Or, am I thinking of a different Clench?
