Megatron's motivation makes sense. He wanted to get back to Cybertron, but then once the Autobots have established that they're going to protect the humans, his motivation switches from "get back to Cybertron" to "Destroy the Autobots here and now and also enslave all of humanity." (Seriously, Megatron trying to enslave or otherwise own humanity is a huge recurring plotline. Murdering them and destroying their planet isn't enough--he has to enslave them.)andersonh1 wrote:It seems very evident that MTMTE was originally written as a standalone story. Megatron is trying to steal all the energy he can and return to Cybertron, not remain on Earth to conquer it, as you point out. Prime and the Autobots are also preparing to leave and return home at the end of the story, and take Spike and Sparkplug with them. "Next stop, Cybertron" Spike writes in his journal. But then we hit episode four, and the Autobots are still on Earth, still running patrols (Why?) and act as though they never planned to leave. With no explanation. Prime seems shocked to see Megatron alive later on. "Megatron lives!" Well, if you didn't suspect it, why did you stay on Earth and why was over half your force out on patrol?
There simply isn't a smooth transition from episode 3 to episode 4.
It doesn't specifically say that on his tech spec.. Inference, or a different source?Dominic wrote:the same character profiles that talk about how Sunstreaker feels that Sideswipe's external engine is ugly.
Dude. Read All Hail Megatron. It *loves* incorporating bits from the early G1 profiles. It features the first documented case of Thundercracker acting in character with his Techspec. It's awesome.Gomess wrote:It doesn't specifically say that on his tech spec.. ...Reading '84 tech specs made me even sadder that I couldn't get into Infiltration and all that. Early G1 characters deserve better (i.e. longer and more sustained) stories. All their personalities COULD really play off each other well... but in almost thirty years that's never been normalised.
I'm not being a GEEWUNNER, I just think those early characters were a real missed opportunity. =[
