Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

I'm going to admit something here: I never read Infiltration, Devastation etc. All Hail Megs was the first IDW TF comic I bought and read, and that came out at the same time as Maximum Dinobots. Then 86 and Dom were saying, "It's good! It's good!" over and over and I bought the trade and it totally was.

All you really need to know is that Sunstreaker's been a Headmaster with this human guy for a while, and Scorponok's in charge of this group of dudes who did it to them.

You know I think I'm quickly become "not a comics guy anymore" as well. I recently cleaned out my collection and returned a bunch of stuff to the comic book store. Got $75 store credit. I won't have to actually pay for comics for the rest of the year. But I digress. I too would only support this if it was G2 #13 as there were threads I'd like to see explored. Also Gomess, O6 is right Maximum Dinobots is awesome. Actually, so are the -ation books if you can get past Infiltration. It's a slow build up but the pay off is worth it. Furman also did the Spotlights and most of those were really well written as well.

Shockwave
-So to sum up: With a few exceptions, Furman has generally kicked ass at IDW.

Although it did take him forever to build up whatever the Dead Universe was, and it wasn't all that interesting in the first place, so they cut that off at the legs and gave us AHM instead.

Given that I liked AHM, I can't say this is bad.

The words "Dead Universe" are an instant turn-off for me, and I don't even know what it is.

But I was a fan of Furman's stuff back in the day, and I see no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt now that he's not being given the run of the place by the daft buggers who ran Marvel UK back in the day.

Yeah, Dead Universe wasn't that great, but most of the rest was pretty good. Problem is that Furman had an awful run at DW which lost him his credibility with the fanbase and he's never really recovered from it.

His run at DW was not that bad in fairness. That said, yeah, "Maximum Dinobots" was much better than you would reasonably expect it to be.

I actually like all the Transformers stories Simon furman wrote for the mavel usa & Marvel UK generation one & two comics.

I actually read & thought all simon furmans Transformers comic stories on DW & IDW were decent.

Similar to the way,06 feels. I feel that messing with transformers cartoons & comics from over 20 years ago. seems rather overly obsessive, redundant & makes no sense. I'd rather when things end they stayed ended. i'm not a fan of revisting stuff that clearly had a ending & wasn't meant to revisit.

Anyways like I said in another reply. This TF ongoing #81 fails because simon wants to re-write certain things & make believe other things never happened like generation 2. This won't be a true on-going. it'll be a "WHAT IF" type series or similar to the last star trek movie. where the star trek time line events was altered & the events spewed into another alternate universe type ordeal.

Now see I liked the way they handled the new Star Trek. It was a way for them to reboot the series from scratch without pissing off legions of long time Trek fans. Personally, I think they could have done it without the time travel but too many Trek fans would have been nerd raging over it.

The recent "Star Trek" movie is not a "what if". It is a reboot. The new status quo and official context is going to be determined by that.

The same thing will apply to an issue 81 of the original comics. G2 is the thing being discarded. You do not have to like it. But, it is no more your decision than it is mine. IDW has the right to make that decision. (Of course, keeping G2 would likely not do much to improve the likely quality of a run beginning with issue 81.)

Dom
-likely not going to bother with this series.
