I never did discuss this issue, did I? I need to do a proper review, but I'll just say this: I think it's a major mistake to explore the dead universe in any detail, as they're starting to do. Let it stay mysterious and let the readers' imaginations do the work. Anything else can't fail to disappoint.

That seems to be THE MAJOR PROBLEM THESE DAYS. Various TF fans lack imaginations or just don't "think out of the box" anymore.

Failing that, if they are going to map out the dead universe....do a better job of it.

I am really hoping this goes better than we are anticipating.

We'll it got to be leaps & loads better than hanging out on the earth & playing with humans.

at the very least the transformers will leave the earth for a while & go on adventure of sorts.

I would rather have a well-written ongoing set on Earth than that latest faux-epic, regardless of the writer's pedigree. Costa actually has ideas beyond "big robots am teh awesum". So far, Abnett has given us dimension hopping zombies and exploring the Eye of Ter...oh sorry, exploring the Dead Universe. I am not sure how that will be better than what Costa has been giving us.

Abnett's work has been lacking lately. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume health problems, (even age), are more to blame than anything else. But, the end product has not lived up to his pedigree. "Thor/Ironman: God Complex" was passable, but had rough spots that would have been bothersome from an inexperienced writer. From Abnett, they were almost insulting. "Prospero Burns" was just plain bad, even discounting it being over a year late.

IDW could have kept Furman on "Transformers" and probably saved some money.

'Cos I haven't really been interested in TF fiction (or even really the toys) for about six years... As I said, I will next time I'm on a real TF kick. Right now I'm just around here for the gossip. Might watch some Headmasters later, that'll put me in the mood for TFs-not-on-Earth stories.

Now that is incomprehensible to me.

Poor distribution of the toys aside, the last 6 years have been a great time to be a fan. IDW makes its share of mistakes, but they also get their master strokes. The end of the UT was the first time in the better part of a decade that it was better to be a fan in the US than in Japan. (Granted, you guys in the UK got screwed either way on that one....) There were some darned fun 'n fiddly toys. And, the more venemous fandom dramas largely died out.

And, I am saying this as the second most complainy person, (after JT), on this forum.
