Everything about this toy screams out Mediocre, Could Have Been Way Better, and in the much crappier ROTF colours, he's a definite pass. Should've waited, Sparky.
Well, I liked the claw and the axe. Really, all the problems you mentioned could mostly be fixed with paint. I'm just saying, I rather like him. I'm not saying you have to, but I do. Not enough to plunk down for the ROTF version, mind...
Chromehorn Forest Type.
You mean Shrapnel!

Ah, that's a lie, the Insecticon repaint as Shrapnel that I always wanted was primarily black and had purple and yellow details.
I don't think such a thing exists. The regular flavor Insecticon is a pretty clear homage to Barrage though, which is awesome.

Really? I thought he was more an homage to Bombshell.

They are the same type of beetle. If anything though, the colors are a call-back to Barrage.

I'm mostly pointing out why I think he sucked, so. By the by--Ratchet is supposed to have a machine gun and an 'awesome buzzsaw weapon.' I'd rather that than the shitty claw thing and the axe.

It doesn't, no, but I always wanted them to do it back in the day. Quickly! Someone digibash it!

Got Stratosphere. Barely played with him, but he's cool. Neat hands, head is somewhat Megazord-ish, which I like. Feet are stupid. Mini-Prime is awesome. Scale is great. Detailed thoughts (and proper sentence structure) later.

I remember kinda liking Ratchet last go-round, but then, I got a Rescue Ratchet for, like, 5 bucks thanks to Dom, so I was bound to like him a lil' more. He was okay and all. For, y'know, a Hummer. (Shudder)

Anyhoo. Today, at the post office, nine toys left, two toys entered. Yay, mail is fun!

So I got a couple of Activators:

Usually I'm not the sort to flip all out for a rarer toy, but these are both really cool lil' dudes, and I got 'em for retail plus shipping, so I figure it's worth it.

So I went over to The Other Target with the express purpose of finally breaking down and getting Sideways, since the gunmetal variant has been popping up around here. I saw him...and then saw that they had the latest wave in as well. I'd been interested in Blaze Master, but the pics on the back of the box killed that one for me pretty quickly. Jolt looked kinda bad too, but I hear he's actually good, so I may get him eventually (Still want the FAB too). And then I saw Dead End. Oh man, I suddenly remembered why I was waiting for this version over Sideways. I grabbed it. He's awesome. The colors are gorgeous (based on Alts Dead End, interesting choice), and the mold's as good as everyone's been making it out to be, especially once I figured out how to fold the bumper up onto the back properly, and found the guide slots for properly positioning the back kibble. Too bad the black plastic of the Mech Alive gears kinda kills that gimmick, rendering it all but impossible to see. Still, solid, awesome toy. And way prettier than either version of Sideways.

I'd still get Sideways, but I absolutely love his head.

Jolt is awesome, the box pics do him no justice. His legs are like Longarm's from Movie 1--they can reasonably be done in digitigrade or as Normal Legs, but unlike Longarm, the normal legs look like crap on Jolt. You can also do his feet two ways (which, oddly, the back of box pic *does*--one foot is one way, the other is another?!) and stuff. Sure, his whip gimmick is gutted, but that's nothing--they work better if they flip out manually anyway, and they're cooler if they're just stabby knives anyway.

As the last of my "pre-ordered months ago" toys trickle in....

A box from Digital Toys arrived yesterday, presumably holding the "Cobra Island" 7 packs, and the 2nd set of "Encore"cassettes. (I have yet to open it, as I did not get home until very late last night.)

I got a neat box today from Dom:

Helpful Autobot Communications Expert Longarm Prime: Seems like a trustworthy sort, admittedly purple's an odd color choice for an Autobot, but still. No idea why Blurr seems worried. (lol jokes that woulda been funnier a long time ago)

Cybertron Mode Animated Optimus: Yeah, he's neat for what he is now, but as soon as that other Ratchet gets here, I'm doin' some science on the both of 'em.

A pile of hilariously huge "Rise of Cobra" guns:  Nice bonus. Thanks, bro! These actually make pretty decent Animated TF weapons, and are just funny.

And a Cobra Officer (Scarface, it looks like) because while it's true that you can say "Too many" and "Cobra grunts" in the same sentence, when you do it just doesn't make any sense. Another neat bonus, thanks again!

Dom is a good dude to trade with, tell you whut.
