QC: Sideswipe?

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

And obsession with yuri manga? Heh.

I thoroughly agree, if people aren't going to accept me for who I am, they're not worth my time. Going out of my way to present myself as something I'm not just because I find a girl attractive would be several levels of shallow and misleading. I'm not ashamed of my hobby, it is just a hobby and not some disturbing fetish, and so help me if you don't like my Star Wars pillowcases you can get the hell out of my bed.

That is all.

This is the best statement about this topic ever.

Moreso because you actually own said pillowcases.

Maybe I'm showing my 'age' here, but...

Why would you WANT to date a girl who thinks Transformers are lame?! Do people not go for others who share their interests any more; did I miss that memo? They don't need to be a MASSIVE FAN, but jeez, if you feel like one of your hobbies is 'preventing' you from meeting someone, you need to rethink your standards.
I dunno, where do you people even GO to meet these apparent Girls Who Share Your Interests? I'm under the impression that pretty much any girl I talk to would disown the chance to go out with me as soon as they found out I buy and play with toys (and buy comics, and manga, and watch anime, etc). Of course, I also have the crippling fear that all I'm going to get from approaching a girl is a restraining order, so I don't go very far in that respect in the first place.

Work, friends' places and parties, flatmates' friends, friends' friends, the numerous bars I go to, although that's another story.. The trick is not to look, and simply to interact. Sure, we're pretty geektastic, love re-enacting our childhood fantasies with toy robots and discussing these online, but..er..well. I guess the trick is to just Be at people until they respond. It's not like it usually gets me very far, (Especially considering how much my work makes me detest pointless human interaction), though it at least gets me through the conversation with the checkout chick long enough to ask for her phone number.*

* That one didn't end all that awesomely, eheh.

My girlfriend was a friend of mine for a good couple months before we got together. I've never bought into "dating" (an entirely different thing to Going Out), or knowing you want to be with someone from the first meeting. Like 86 says, you just... Be. Go around, do your thing, and... that's it. If you change your behaviour specifically to meet someone, then that's not really *you* they'll be meeting, is it?

All that stuff depends entirely on What You Want, anyways. Any fool can go out and Get Laid. But if you want someone who you can play robots and discuss manga with, you're just gonna need to live your life. It takes MORE effort to get a quick short-term ultimately disappointing thrill, IMO.

And heck, isn't this The Communication Age?? If we can't find attractive people with the same interests as us then what's the point?! =p

I am amazed though, Prowl, that you don't know where to find yuri-loving girls. You have BEEN to an anime convention, right...? It's one of those places where, from my experience, the dominant cliche is for girls to hit on guys. Rather than the opposite, which is more true in "bars". Which is a whole other kettle of fish. I've never wanted to be with someone who I'd met in a pub, because I don't like pubs. =p

I like girls with imaginations, so I basically had to go from door-to-door all my life, barging into bedrooms until I found a suitably introvert type. Breaking in through the window covered in sparklies works too, apparently. Thank you, Twilight! (No thank you)

...Discussing relationships =/= Sideswipe's quality control?

Go and hang out in department stores and bookstores? Haven't really met anyone that way yet...

Well sure, if said guy is *attractive*. Like I said, I've got that "Begging for a restraining order" look going on, so conventions generally have ten-THOUSAND way-better-looking-than-me guys, which is only enhanced by the fact that half of them are dressed like Gaara. Bleh.

I dunno, you could go back. I know I'm tired of listening to me whine. Sorry, I've just been in Depression Mode for the last couple weeks, and I lost my instruction sheet, so I don't know how to get back into Jocular Mode.

Eh. I recently got into a Thing with one of the girls from my college's Anime Club.

So, yeah, go to a college that has an Anime Club and hit on girls there. Surely there will be at least one worth it. Catchphrases help--I've gone with "I'm Single, Hit on me," for ages. And this time, it finally worked!

Also, don't go with that "There are tons of more attractive guys at conventions" than me. I've seen you, you're not exactly an ugly pig-faced loser. Shit, if 'I' can get a girlfriend, then surely you can. I mean, I friggin' go around wearing flannel tied around my waist, for Rodimus' sake.

Yeah Prowl, you're nowhere near the bottom of the pile of con-going males no-homo. And anyway, it's cornier than the Green Giant's underoos, but there are some girls who actually prize your personality above how attractive you think you are. I'll sum it up like this: if I wasn't able to hum the 90s X-Men cartoon theme, I wouldn't have gotten the girl I've got now.

The biggest problem you could have, as I see it, is if you actually had a shot with someone, but accidentally turned them down because of your own insecurity. Look in the mirror and call yourself a tiger every morning! Oo, hey, I'll tell you what made me think I was hotter: cutting my hair. Didn't change any girl's opinion of me (unless they really ARE liars like in the movies), but darn if I don't feel boss with short hair now that I'm sure I wanna be a writer.

A SHORT HAIRED WRITER! Under 35! =O

So anyway, group hug? I've got that BWTFugees Support Group vibe goin' on. >____>

Ha. I'm sticking with the long hair. Need it for the band, yo!

Also, everything G has ever said about girls has been right so far, so I trust his judgement.
