I thought that CR/Rid Gigatron/Megatron toy was great. It was a shame that OTFCC ended before they could create that TM2 Megatron recolor+Re-tool using that Rid Megatron toy mold.
I thought all the AEC Megatron toys were pure awesome & were more beautifully scuplted than all the Movie-verse megatron toys.

Also, consider how much more expensive it'd be to come up with new names and characters for every iteration of the brand, usage trademarks expire if you don't continue using them after 3 years - hence we're stuck with "Rodimus" instead of Hot Rod. .
Hasbro can easily get around that by releasing newer faction leaders in the main media line,But keeping the optimus & Megatron trademarks names by releasing them in sub-lines like generations in that same year.
Examples of new faction leaders that are not named optimus & Megatron that would do decent in the media/toy line are as follows: Galvatron,Rodimus Prime,Overlord,Fortress maximus,Scorponok,Ultra Magnus.

These are all toys from the last 20 months (from DOTM on) that are either new faces or essentially-unused faces.
Hasbro's main problem with the Classics/Generations toy line is giving the wrong sized scaled molds to the wrong persona Characters. 2.0 Ultra Powerglide should have received a basic or deluxe mold,So 2.0 Galvatron couldf have got a ultra sized mold. Generations Thunderwing needed a voyager sized mold as the deluxe was too small for his marvel comic size/rank. 2.0 Cyclonus & Generations Scourge should have got voyager sized toys not deluxes. 2.0 silverbolt & 2.0 onslaught didn't need ultra sized toys, their correct updated size scale was deluxe toys.
Hatchet,I thought was a very creative & interesting design but nobody recognized the genious of the design due to it being stuck in the basic size scale that many easily forget this toy existed. This toy needed to be created in the voyager size class,so it could have been recolored into 1986 Skylynx colors+persona.
At some point the Generations toy line needs to start doing bigger size scaled toys like the $27 USA Ultra size & the leader size. Because there are so many huge/high ranking TF characters that need a new updated toy like as follows:
1- 1988 Masterforce Overlord,One voyager sized tank, one voyager sized Jet,that merge to form a Leader sized Robot mode toy.
2- 1986 Rodimus Prime,Similar to his Titanium 6 inch toy but at the $27 usa ultra size or leader size.
3- 1986 G-1 Galvatron,That looks like his 1986 toy/media with his laser canon alt mode,$27 usa ultra or leader size.
4- 1986 G-1 styled Ultra Magnus,either $27 usa ultra or leader size.
5- G-2 Jhiaxus,$27 USA Ultra Size.
6- 1989 Deathsauras,$27 USA ultra size.
7 1989 Victorysabre,Voyager size Starsabre & Voyager size Victoryleo that merge to form a Leader sized robot mode.
