Alternity looks a decent compromise, being a hybrid of Binaltech and Movie aesthetic and design tricks, including die-cast and at the Deluxe scale. If it weren't for the price, that is.
Honestly, I think the movie line skirted the Alternators realism for the most part in alt mode, but in bot mode it was a little too much of that movie look to say regular TF, and there were action gimmicks and such which held it back. Alternity seems like an experiment that won't be as popular because it's Alternators-esque even in price, but smaller like a Deluxe with all the limitations that come with.

Not to take this off-subject, but does anyone have any theories as to why Ravage seems to be the only character to get two distinct models for Alternators? I mean, the Tracks retool was cool, but then the Jaguar XK model came out, and after hearing all of the complaints people had with the first figure, I'm convinced the second one was made to appease those complaints. How else can you explain how the two main arguments against the retool - it not being a non-anthropomorphic beast mode and the car model not being a Jaguar - were addressed in the second figure?

That's...yeah, exactly it, I'd imagine. Plus they probably wanted a case-mate for Rumble.

I expect the Jaguar license came along well into the line, after the Corvette version had been done. And they probably thought Ravage was the best fit for it, especially seeing as how the first one was only a retool. So we got another one, and I actually really like it. It's certainly among the more unique Alternators, and one of the more unusual TF's.

Speaking of, have you seen this atrocity?

Good lord, what a ripoff. Stick to your own mediocre designs, Bandai!

Deathy tried to start a thread about this a few months back on ATT, and I just don't buy it. They're licensed vehicles that turn into Zord animals. So? I mean, did anyone harp on the Rescue Megazord when it had individual robot modes? No, not really.

Oh, the idea doesn't bother me at all-- it's the fact that this particular toy is a *direct* ripoff of Alt Ravage. It's practically the same mold. Look at the transformation-- bit for bit, it's almost identical.

...How else do you expect them to turn a car into a cat? Especially since this is 'Bandai' we're talking about.

I'm offended by the fact that Bandai seems to think they can pull the same kind of shit they did with the Jungle Fury Extra Rangers and replace the talking tiger jet plane with that...thing. Next thing you know, they're going to replace the calligraphy pen phones from Shinkenger with iPhones.

In other words, Power Rangers is the LAST franchise that needs product placement in their merchandise.

Go Go Powerade Rangers? Heh, product placement in PR would be horribly awesome.

Yes, that one really does look like a direct JagRav knockoff. Given I can think of few other ways a car could turn into a cat, and doing it while retaining the integrity of the vehicle mode is a challenge, I would say they looked to JagRav for inspiration there. JagRav is awesome, so I can't blame them.

I want Alternators Gears. :|

Huffer and Brawn. Kup should have been in there. I agree the rest of the Stunticons would have been nice. Maybe some of the Protectobots.
