It is all in how you "enjoy" a show.

Furries are just scum, plain and simple. And, I could do without being in the same fandom as them.

... *sigh* .... I can't really believe we're going to get into this argument but here goes: Ideologically, I can see what Dom is saying. By technical definition furries are people that rape animals. If we all agree that rapists are scum then we would subsequently have to agree that furries are also scum. Now, the flaw in Dom's logic is that the term "furry" also includes a subsect that does not involve actual animals but simply humans dressed as animals. These people are not rapists and therefore are not necessarily scum.

Also, Dom has a tendancy to generalize with asbolutes. You gotta kinda take his comments with a grain of salt. Dom, I'm sure there are some BW fans that are furries, but we should not assume that just because one is a BW fan that they are also a furry. I am a BW fan and I am not a furry.

I did say "technically" as an indicator it's not quite the same thing. But it is still a basic plot idea that's been reused a lot throughout Transformers.
Shockwave wrote:Like I said, it was just too much supposition for me that it went past my bullshitometer. Yours apparently has a higher tolerance than mine.
No, I don't agree that it was supposition in the first place. As I keep pointing out, the examples you've been pointing are about what I've been saying could have happened, not what actually happened in the comic.
I don't think O6 was talking about the in context reason for it, he was talking about why the writers chose that setting. We KNOW they scanned fossils, no one here is debating otherwise.
I know... My point was that because they were fossils, it had nothing to do with what the writers chose as a setting. They could have just as easily found fossils in a modern day setting as they did on prehistoric Earth.
Again, I think you missed O6's point (I'll obviously leave to O6 to correct me if I'm wrong, but here's what I think he meant): It's not that there haven't been "Transformers on Earth for millions of years" it's that none of those series had "woke up in 1984 and took only '84 alt modes". Or worse, "went back to 1984 when G1 happened but couldn't interact with any of those characters".
No, I know what he was getting at. But I think my point is still valid. As I said to Dom, it might not be the exact same, but it's still a plot idea they've reused a lot. And really, I wouldn't say Beast Wars is as confined as O6 claims. The comic may have also taken place on pre-historic Earth, but those characters had a very different arrival and reason for being there than the characters in the cartoon.
The premise would have been better at least.
I totally disagree. As I've said, I thought the premise of the comic we got was great. It's just how the story was handled/executed that brought it down.

I know that not all beast fans are furries. (Honey Bear is not a furry, despite being a hairy fellow.) But, BW brought furries into the fandom. And, no, I do not like furries. In addition to the molesting animals, they embody too many of the negative stereotypes about the fandom as a whole.

I want this be a chant. Like at AA:

"Hi, my name is Ursus. I am a BW fan, and I am not a furry."

I also agree with you. There are plenty of furries who just like to dress up like Tony the Tiger, and leave real animals alone.

Also also, Dom is correct. I am not a furry, I am simply Russian.

(Thanks to Ursus for pointing out what I'm about to)

(...Wait, what? I reread Trekwave's post and now I'm confused. "Furries are rapists, but there's a subset who aren't". Um..?)
Shockwave wrote:By technical definition furries are people that rape animals.
See, this is my point.

NO THEY FUCKING AREN'T o_o

Statements like that remind me of the assholes living in my old town who couldn't tell the difference between a paediatrician and a paedophile, let alone a paedophile and a child abuser. I know, I know, I don't want this conversation to get "too serious" either, but... here's the facts, alright?

Furries are people who find animalistic qualities attractive (sexually OR OTHERWISE). To say that all furries rape animals is such an incredibly ridiculous and ignorant generalisation I can't even get my head round it.

...And no, I'm not a furry, but that really shouldn't matter.

So, to sum up: People who think Lola Bunny is hot =/= People who fuck goats

Alright?

I feel the need to address this if only for the reason that you are addressing this on a forum for grown adults who like children's toys.
