The plastic feels different than other figures I own. It's lighter, with a different texture. Slightly hard to describe. The quality is still good though.
I don't think it's so much that the plastic itself is lighter, more that so much of the figure itself is hollow. Seriously, the chest cavity, both the upper and lower arms, and the lower legs are all hollow pieces of plastic, due to the way the toy transforms! It creates the weird effect of a toy that feels very light, though you're right that the structural integrity is fine; I never feel like it's going to crumble or anything. It's just weird.
So with the exception of Bumblebee, all the WFC toys have stylized faction symbols on their backs. That's...almost interesting.

I think it was to give us something interesting to stare at on the figures' backs. After all, that's primarily what you see in WfC.

Wow, I hadn't noticed the thing about the faction logo on the back of Megs. I am not seeing it on Prime or Soundwave so far, but it's very clear on Megs.

I just now noticed it on Megs. I had noticed on Prime before though as it's pretty obvious on his back. Megs back is more angled so it blends in a little better, Prime has this flat panel on his back with the only detailing being the symbol.

Hey, quick question to anyone what's got the WFC 'Bee. Am I doing something wrong transforming him? I think I've got it mostly figured out, but the flip-over panel that his head's on, it keeps getting stuck on this little bit inside his upper body when I try to flip it over into car mode. Anyone run across this before, or have I just not figured it out yet?
Other than that, he seems really neat so far. Cool robot and what looks like it'll be a slick car once I get him there.

If you flip it one way it goes, if you flip it the other it doesn't and I can never remember which is right until I run into this . And when you do get the right way the head has to be positioned right to fit.

Oh yeah, finally got it after fiddling with it forever. It seemed like when I tried to flip it the right way, the panel just got stuck. Neat toy, but the transformation can be tricky as hell the first time.

Dang, and after trying it again, I'm sticking with my first opinion, the transformation on this WFC 'Bee is an unholy bear to pull off. Once it's done, though, either result looks really good. The auto mode is a neat little thing, totally like a Tron-esque Beetle, and I love the look of it even if I can't quite get every panel to line up. It's pretty great. The robot mode looks really cool, too, in the box he looks a little hunchbacked, but once you mess with the backpack some, that issues smooths out. Only downside to the toy? If I want to enjoy both modes, I might have to buy another one, because I'm not sure I ever want to transform it again.
That said, I'm gonna figure out something really easy in the next couple of days that makes the whole process a breeze, but man, that is some effort.

And now: Dirge!
Dirge is pretty rad and I...nah, screw it. Okay, Dirge is yet another use of the Classics Seeker Conehead mold. If you like this mold, you'll mostly like this version. There seems to be a little looseness going on here, I can't tell if it's full on mold degradation, but the legs seem pretty loosey-goosey, and the cannons plug into his arms pretty loosely.
The blue here is kind of swirly if you catch it in the right light. It is, however, a pretty decent color. Dirge gets legit Dirge wings that the BotCon variety missed out on. The front, smaller fin on his wings does some neat flipping around to fold back and not get in the way of his arms, and the back wings wind up looking kind of like a big cape flowing out behind him. On this version of this guy, the cockpit isn't tinted plastic, it's just left clear, which looks good on the jet mode, but kind of gets swallowed up in the robot mode.
There's some pretty decent paint apps on this fella in robot mode. A lot of black with a little red and silver break up the blue and yellow. Looks pretty good.
Anyhow, you know what you're getting into with this toy, odds are you've seen it before as some character or other. It's pretty damn cool that he's out at all, though, and even if he's predictable, it's predictably cool. And I do like this mold overall, enough that I've bought three damn versions of just this retool, and six of 'em total. There are not many toys that I would buy friggin' six of, so that either says something about how versatile the toy is, or how well the programming worked on me back in the day to accept the six damn repaints as different and important characters. Either way, well played, Hasbro. Well played.
Interesting note: You know how the "Difficulty" thing on the package used to just indicate how expensive the toy was? Like, how Legends Starscream had a one or two, while Cybertron Starscream had like, a four? Even though they transform exactly the same way? Not happening anymore. Dirge's difficulty rating is "2: Easy", and Bumblebee, who is, in fact, a helluva lot harder is at a "4: Advanced". That's actually a pretty cool move, it's a good idea to advertise that kind of thing on the package.

My Nenkei Thundercracker has loose cannons. But, Henkei Skywarp, (cast at about the same time) and TFU Starscream (cast later) are fine. Similarly, my TFG Thrust's cannons are fine.
