Hasbro's Masterpiece Rodimus Prime

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

What can I say? O6 had me tagged right. When you're surrounded by kids who think it's "unique" to listen to Linkin Park, you do what you can.

We should make donutburgers at the Hypothetical Future Meetup.

1) Actual R2-D2 and C-3PO swimsuits exist, and they're pretty yuck.

2) Ugh, the idea of Hasbro repainting that Laserless Prime and not calling it Scourge is blood-curdling, mainly because it's so likely they WILL do it wrong.

3) Seeing Masterpiece Roddy in person at Botcon, only $50, I'm down. That they included only the big Matrix and not the one that fits in him though when the packaging says it does, that's a point against.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

So it is a larger Matrix? I was wondering about that. I didn't think it looked like the same one shown with Takara's version.

Hey hey, don't forget about Lunar 2! (How deep in do you have to be to know the places where fanservice counts as plot development?)

I'd likely buy a Scourge repaint of Generations Generation 2 Optimus Prime, but I wouldn't be too fussed about the name. I mean, no one exploded when they named the Straxus toy 'Darkmount' right? I thought we all understood Hasbro just does what they can, and once the toy's out of the box, you can call it whatever the hell you want. Freaking out and throwing a fit because your personal favorite name isn't on a toy's packaging seems just a little out there, even for this hobby.

MAYBE the smaller matrix will be tucked away inside the inner chest cavity. when one transforms the toy perhaps they'll find the smaller matrix inside the inner chest cavity.

Perhaps the bigger matrix will fit inside the inner chest cavity. maybe it'll just fit inside their. or maybe hasbro/takara has re-modified/re-molded the inner chest cavity to make the bigger matrix fit inside the inner chest cavity.

either way i've got the first release takara MP Rodimus Prime toy with the smaller matrix. If I wanted I could swap it back & forth between the hasbro & takara versions of MP Rodimus Prime.

At least it's not like GI Joe where the names are printed on the stands, and half of the figures don't even 'have' stands.

I guess the context would be the main difference between "Scourge" and "Nemesis Prime". I can't believe I'M making the context argument, where's Dom when we need him? Scourge in RID was a decent character that actually did stuff that was bad ass. None of the Nemesis Prime bios come anywhere close to being even remotely similar to or alluding to being various versions of Scourge, despite having essentially the same color scheme. So I would say character wise, in context there's a big difference between Scourge and Nemesis Prime.

Edit: No, my head wouldn't explode, but I would be seriously disappointed.

Have many moulds named "Nemesis Prime" in the West been released in Japan? If so, do they call them Black Convoy there?

I know, it's not exactly *conclusive* evidence that Nemesis = Scourge, but hey, it's something.

Welp, I'm just bored enough to do this:

-Black Convoy AKA RID Scourge.
-Binaltech Black Convoy, released in the US as Nemesis Prime.
-Nucleon Quest Super Convoy, who is Convoy.
-THS-02b, who is also Convoy.
-Armada Nemesis Prime, who Japan called...um. Scourge. Yeah.
-Superlink had Grand Scourge, who is (I guess) supposed to be an upgrade of Scourge, who is Armada Nemesis Prime. At this point I'm still unwilling to call them the same because Armada Nemesis is clearly a different guy.
-Nemesis Prime who is black alternate universe Big Convoy, and the only time the mould was released in the US. Apparently this guy is the same guy as Alternity Black Convoy, or Convoy Super Black. Stupid fucking Alternity.
-Universe SDCC Nemesis Prime, who's a repaint of Classics Prime. Wasn't released in Japan, so who cares.
-Nova Prime from IDW who is Nova Prime.
-Animated Nemesis who is some random-ass black Prime repaint. He was released in Japan only as "Convoy black ver." and repurposed as Nemesis. Ugh.

To date, nobody who's supposed to "represent" Scourge has been called Nemesis Prime. Also, very rarely is anybody who's named "Black Convoy" actually named as Nemesis Prime either.

The recent repurposing fad is kind of getting to me, if only because I realize it's going to create some *serious* headaches at later stages of the fandom.
