November Hauls
Re: November Hauls
A house. Seriously, a real freakin' house! With 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a 2 car garage in a nice neighborhood for 84,000. Just closed escrow this afternoon and should have the keys by the end of the week. Now I can start on all the renovations it's gonna need. Buying a house has gotta win the hauls thread right?
Also, Star Trek (2009) on DVD. Still awesome in spite of Kirk's deus ex machina promotion from cadet to captain.
Shockwave
-Will probably actually move-in in mid December.

Awesome. Congratulations! Is this your first house?Shockwave wrote:A house. Seriously, a real freakin' house! With 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a 2 car garage in a nice neighborhood for 84,000. Nothing like having your own place. I lived in a string of apartments before my wife and I bought our first house, and still it was an almost giddy feeling to have that first house. Nothing quite like it.
Re: November Hauls
Yep, first house! I'm excited, I'll actually have room for my collection. YAY!!

Re: November Hauls
Collections expand to fill the empty space. You'll run out of space soon enough. Just wait and see.
Today's purchase - Transformers #1. It has a completely different feel than Furman and McCarthy's work. And I saw the end coming... should have predicted it in the discussion thread so I could say "ha! I knew it!"

Re: November Hauls
I'm actually surprised by how much stuff I still have. I sold almost all of my G1 stuff, all the movie stuff, Animated, and most of Classics, but I really still have a lot of stuff left that survived the purge. All the Star Wars stuff, GI Joe, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, He-Man... Now here's a question, does keeping stuff you were gonna get rid of count as a haul?
Re: November Hauls
No, not a double post. TRU Perceptor. Decided to celebrate no longer having to skimp my finances by picking up Perceptor. Woulda got the Instecticons, but they um... didn't have any.
Still no sign of leader class ROTF Jetfire.

Re: November Hauls
I need to go pick up the Insecticons at least. I've got the TFC reissue Perceptor, so I don't have to get the US reissue to have a shiny new one, but my Insecticons are originals and are pretty worn out at this point.
How much were they? In the $40 range?

35. And Kickback reportedly has pointy wings instead of rounded ones.
Re: November Hauls
Two TrU exclusives:
Transformers "Universe" Insecticons. These are the old G1 molds. All told, they have aged pretty well, though the stickers are an annoyance. Their prominent role in AHM was a big factor in me purchasing them, but the toys are good unto themselves.
GI Joe "Rise of Cobra" officers 3 pack:
When looking at non-movie toys that tie into a movie, I like to read the back of the package to see how the non-movie characters are reconciled/justified. This set consists of a slight recolor of Sgt. Stone, (probably my favorite in-movie character), Grunt (recolored from Zartan of all characters), and Speed Metal. Speed Metal is Serpentor's head on a Sigma-Suit body.
Speed Metal's file card sold me on the set. His nationality is not listed, but he is clearly German. His file name is....(get this)....Sherman Guderian. And, he is listed as a vehicle specialist. His first name is "Sherman" (as in the the tank), and his last name is "Guderian", (a reference to the Nazi officer credited with early developments in tank warfare).
His card-art looks a bit like Guderian as well.
There is a GI Joe figure based on a Nazi officer.
Dom
-wonders what this implies about Serpentor. 0_o

Re: November Hauls
Also nabbed the Insecticons. As Dom said, the stickers are HUGELY annoying. If you have the scratch, get reprolabels instead. Seriously. Other than the stickers I have no complaints about this set. At $35 they individually average out to about $11 each which I think might have been original retail price for them.
