'Really,' Dom? This is the kind of thing I would do.Dominic wrote:-a second cell-phone to make prank calls and texts from.
Looking back on games like that can be a rewarding or horrible experience. I started playing Star Fox Adventures (2002) again a few months ago and it was *horrible.* The dialogue and voice acting was crappy, and a lot of it felt really ridiculously bad and kiddified--in a bad kind of way. How this game ever got a T rating--and how I ever enjoyed it to begin with--is beyond me. It's not just that stuff, though, the combat is ridiculously simple and repetitively boring, and the controls are very very crappy. You use the C-stick to navigate the items menu in real time, instead of hitting Start and bringing up a menu or something--or using the D-Pad which would actually be easy--and on top of that, you can only equip one item at a time, but in the levels you frequently have to switch between the item to, say, boost you up platforms, and the item to shoot fire from the staff. It's a pain in the ass and very annoying.donosaur wrote:I loved the Jak series and would like to see them continue it someday. I also really like Jak II for all the new elements of gameplay it added into the mix and for the excellent level design that I remember the series for. however, I have to admit, this game is just and unevenly difficult as i remember being. I just barely scraped through an ambush mission after 20 or so tries, and as soon as it began part of my mind went "Oh damn, I remember this awful part, noooooooooo" What a nightmare some of these levels are.
Oooh, I'm curious about this too. Havbe been tempted to throw together an essay of my own along these lines, especially with the shift in the fandom of late. We, as longer-term fans who aren't bogged down by nostalgia and appreciate obscurities without obsessing, have a unique perspective on the brand and the fandom as a whole. How it is? Worth tracking down a copy of?Dominic wrote:Transformers and Philosophy: More than Meets the Mind
Jak was always a bit different there, I played the first one through three times or so, and chunks of the second and third. it was never quite sure whether it wanted to be an adult action-adventure or a more kid-friendly platformer, but rather than fall through the cracks, it held its own. It's kinda like FFVII in scale and scope, but without all the sucky parts that made FFVII an overrated borefest, like turn-based combat. Turn-based combat sucks.O-shizzle Six wrote:Looking back on games like that can be a rewarding or horrible experience. Ah, so you got the worst one. I can't even imagine what you'd customize that into, the figure itself is so weak. Like, the legs are so floppy and horrible, and the hands barely hold the weapons. I dunno, did you get the white gloves and boots Punisher, or the all black-garbed variety?Dominic wrote:-Marvel Heroes Punisher (customizing fodder)

Do what I do--email them to yourself.Dominic wrote:-some really rude pics of a KMart restroom on my prank-phone. (I have to figure out how to get them out of there.)
I dunno, I just set up a new contact in my list with my email as the number, and then texted it once or twice to see if it worked, and it did. Oh well.Dominic wrote:I might need to upgrade my service plan to email them. (I have to look into the price and process on that.)
Ah. Oh well. I wonder if DVD picked it up and read it at all?By the way, to answer your questions about the philosophy book, I have not read it. But, I generally think it is best to pick up books like this when they are new, as they tend to get scarce later.
