I found Hot Shot and Ratchet today myself. Went ahead and bought Hot Shot, and I'll probably get Ratchet at some point, though the panel lines on that SUV really do look bad. There's no way around it.

A few quick, in-package observations:
- Hot Shot is smaller than the Armada version, and Jolt probably is too
- colors look like a good match, at least from memory
- clear plastic windshield and windows are a great improvement
- there's a mini-con port on the back, though the gimmick is not present as far as I know
- the bio on the back contains a reference to JaAm, proving that someone at Hasbro is familiar with the inside jokes of fandom

I'll have to do a more detailed review later. Looking forward to Dom's review.

You are correct, sir! [/Ed McMahon]

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Went to the comic shop and bought Best of the UK: Time Wars #4. Primarily because I feel bad if I go in the comic shop and don't buy something.

Went to Target looking for Animated Sunstorm, found Wreck-Gar instead, which was fine by me. He's almost everything I wanted from him. Both modes are fine, though the truck mode doesn't look nearly junky enough, and as this is a toy I was definitely buying for the character, his robot mode is pretty much the main attraction anyway. That doesn't stop his fork-lifting gimmick from being fun though. Transformation isn't as simple as I was getting the impression it was, though it's not complex by any means. It works for VERY accurate robot and vehicle modes though, which is what counts in the end. Robot mode is really great, his finger-chunks have a surprisingly good range of motion, though I really wish his elbows had more in that regard. They also shot themselves in the foot by giving him a waist swivel, and then blocking it off with the hinge that hold the backpack in place. And while the Scissors For Running With are an appreciable effort, they don't really add much to the robot mode. They're too short to really make for threatening weapons, and just look like glorified shields. They do store cleverly though. Through all this nitpicking though, know that this toy is otherwise a near-perfect representation of one of the most endearing TFA characters, and is absolutely loaded with personality. The look sculpted onto his face is perfect.

I also finally got off my butt and downloaded myself a copy of *inhale* Melty Blood Act Cadenza Version b Correction Edition PC. Took some finangaling to get it to run, but it works perfectly now. So the ultimate version of one of my favorite fighting games in recent memory is mine now, and I'm loving it.

Finally, I went to Best Buy only to be dismayed at their anime selection yet again (Code Geass set 3 is supposed to be out, you assholes!), but they did have Reservoir Dogs for six bucks, so that helped.

Masterpiece Ultra Magnus. Really stupid to blow that much money at a time like this, but damnit, he's awesome, and I've always meant to get one.

Friend of mine went to a hobby shop last night, so I tagged along. He was there to pick up some Warhammer models. I checked out the Gundam section and found that they had a 1/100 model of the OverFlag from Gundam 00, which was my favorite suit from the surprisingly cool latest Gundam show, so I snapped it up. Put it together last night, and it is indeed bitchin'. It transforms into a fairly decent Flight Mode, which is fine considering Gundam transformations are almost always about function rather than form. Cool weapons too, including two stowable switchblades, the ridiculous propellor shield all Flags have, and his big f*ck-off gun, which they make you choose on a normal, silver internal lining or a blue, 'charged' look. I went with blue, because it's more visually interesting. And hey, the wingpack and wingtips are all poseable, nice. A very cool kit, all around, though I don't know if I'm gonna get any more. Maybe one of the Thrones, those things were pretty cool.

Remember the Universe Battle Pack of Optimus and Tank Megs? My brother found them in a grocery store for $5, so he picked up two of them. Getting two toys for $5 is definitely the way to go with these, made them much more enjoyable. Megatron is the stronger of the two despite his absurd flippy arm, and you can turn him into a pretty decent Metal Gear third mode, ey. Optimus is ridiculous, spinny upper body, awful vehicle mode, weird eyes, he's seriously a mess. But man, making him helicopter away with his arms pointed out is worth the $5 price tag... that I didn't even have to pay for myself.

I like that tank Megs, he grew on me an awful lot to the point where I snagged the Special Edition G1-style repaint too. The gun arm can be fiddled around to be a respectable claw, or just a gun. I'd recommend gluing the end of it on, tho', that'd go missing pretty easily. His nifty handgun is a great accessory for many figures, too. He's not the G2 Megs update I wanted, but he's not bad, so hey. Be sure to swap the feet around so he can transform properly!

I prefer the Prime myself. (The truck form has a sort of "Geoff Senior" look to it. And, the gun is just too good for that pack.)

Anyway:

TFA Shockwave (Target exclusive)

-25A TigerForce Duke
-25A Major Bludd

Customizing yielded: TFU Artfire
