Not really... Cleopatra's family was of Macedonian Greek and Egyptian decent. She would have had a fairly dark skin color, nothing like Elizabeth Taylor whose family came from England.

Anyway...

Went out for Randi and I's 6 year anniversary. Bought crap.

-Horror DVDs! A positively terrible "4 random movies stuck together" compilation for $5 consisting of The Thing, They Live, Village of the Damned and some shitty looking 90s Jamie Lee Curtis movie. Then I got a fancy Child's Play 1 anniversary release, the new Evil Dead (what a killer movie!) and Predators, which is not really a horror movie but fuck it, it was cheap.
-Doofy-ass Groot toy! You've all seen this one, it has some terrible action feature and doesn't work with anything. This part of the line was awful but it's the only Groot toy even remotely in scale with MU, and has some limited-ass articulation. The sculpting is well enough and the brown paint wash looks pretty good though, and for a guy who's just going to sit in the back of a Marvel shelf, he's not bad I guess. I only spent $5, so!
-Marvel Universe Beast, blue variant. I dunno if this is strictly considered "90s Jim lee Beast" but it sure as hell looks like him, not the 2000s cat-like Beast. He was $7. I thought I had a lot more of my ideal X-Team but it looks like all I got now are Beast, Colossus, Cyclops and Wolverine. I need at least Rogue, Gambit, 80s punk Storm, Xavier obviously, Jubilee and Jean Grey to even be close to an ideal team. Uhh, who else? Iceman is a maybe. Nightcrawler definitely, he was in the Konami game so I need him, but then so was Dazzler and I don't even think she has a toy. (Whatever, Jubilee is better.) And MORPH! (They'll never make Morph.)
Beast is pretty great, wish he had some kinda waist or mid-chest articulation but I can forgive it; rocker ankles, double knees, proper hip ball joints (not the crappy ball swivel things they tend to go with), decent arms, just missing wrists mostly. Head could have some more motion; Cyclops' bendy neck joint would be a godsend here, and I'd have preferred if I got a more neutral facial expression than yelling. Oh well.
-A Robocop 2 shirt, because why would such a thing even be produced in 2015! Specifically Robocop 2! It says it right on it!

I've changed this to a Sept/Oct hauls thread.

Got the Star Wars Rebels Darth Vader/Ahsoka 2-pack from Amazon. They're 5POA figures which is meh but that's all the Rebels figures, at least they have ball-jointed heads now. Vader is very nice for a 5POA, they sculpted him to wear his plastic cape over the front of his shoulders, it looks slick although it causes a sculpt issue in the actual costume, someone thought bringing out the chest armor and sculpting most of it away for that cape would look tight, but the cape tolerances aren't close enough so it leaves an odd gap. The sculpt is very McQuarrie in the face, quite lean in the body, and a bit shorter than most realistic Vader figures. They put a hook on his hip for his saber, but then didn't include a saber to connect to that.

Ahsoka is good but not great, the face sculpt is the biggest issue in that it's much more The Clone Wars "kid" face than it is the adult version from Rebels with its leaner face and higher eyes. The body sculpt and paint overall are decent, although the feet aren't designed to stand properly with one ankle tilted forward and the other back, making it essentially impossible on a 5POA body to balance. The waist armor has a flexible plastic flap to let the legs move, but I predict this won't survive forever. Ahsoka also has hooks on her hips for sabers, but no saber hilts. Her only lightsabers are lit, and instead of white/clear they're blue/clear, although pale blue.

Congrats on the anniversary, O6!

Finally got some of the packages I was waiting for:

-AOE Rollbar! This guy was a repaint of Generations Skids, a mould I love and now own every iteration of. He's made up in the same deco as the Sonic RS that the douchey boyfriend from the movie drove, and was only in some bogus expensive multipack. I paid $30 shipped from China or Hong Kong or some crap for him--probably too much, especially when you consider he's missing his damn guns! I already sent a complaint on eBay and hopefully will either get the guns, or a partial refund.
-Beast Machines Scavenger! If you remember, I was OBSESSED with this dude as a kid; the epitome of a cool Basic toy. Great little transformation and cool stuff to do with him, great Vehicon look, and weird-ass clashing colour scheme; it's everything I love. I broke mine as a kid and it broke my heart; RID Scav was a successful replacement for many years but I randomly found myself pining for him a few days ago...and bought three. This is the first to arrive, can't wait for the others. Am I about to go through a Vehicon army building stage? I sure hope not.
-Package from Dom containing: Movie 1 Grindcore, a Constructicon-ish repaint of Cybertron Landmine; Cybertron Cannonball, that awesome pirate dude everyone loved, Car Robots Speedbreaker (who looks swank as hell), a Legends Nemesis Prime of some year or other, two recent 50th GI Joe Iron Grenadiers (which was totally unexpected!) and a bunch of Energon Cubes that I do not know the origin of. Cool stuff!

EDIT: Also we got a new cat from a shelter. She was there the longest (since 8/14) and basically looks like a less fat version of our other cat. They seem to be getting along okay but not great yet; I give it a few weeks though, they're already doing better off than Lucy and Jewel were.

Double post. Whatever!

So I've said, my Walmart I work at is absolutely terrible for toys. The department manager does not care in the least. This is perfectly exemplified by the fact that today there was an entire case of Legends class figures for $3 each, sitting on the peg. And not $3 clearance, a regular yellow tag.

Now, this may be an error. For some reason, the previous wave (Bombshell, Thundercracker) had been marked down for a while. I think it may have to do with one or two that I had placed away behind something for a rainy day buy, and they put them on clearance to flush the system, but these toys instantly popped up in the clearance after they were marked down. They were first $7 and then $5, and then--probably--$3. Then the peg (with the standard $9.97 pricetag--ugh!) sat with nothing on it for about three months, next to an entire 4 pegs of the final AOE Deluxe wave that is still somehow there and unclearanced. So somebody put out this wave, saw the clearance price of $3, probably adjusted it, and ran with it. I saw it and immediately snapped up a Blackjack I needed, a Rodimus I could probably do without, and a Groove that I was ambivalent on at even $7 but at $3 is essential. (I should have grabbed doubles and scalped them or sold them off to you guys--if they're still there when I next work on Monday, I probably will.)

Sounds like the best haul for September and October.

I do not normally post hauls, but....

A friend of mind went to NYCC the weekend before this past. He offered to do some ninja buys for me. Of course, the only thing that I was really searching for was a left arm for a 2013 "Marvel Legends" Mandroid. Through some alchemical trade, I ended up with a Hyrda soldier....which is packed with that left arm I sought. It cost me some money....and a pile of other build up parts. But,l the loss of the other parts is actually an advantage because it means I have less temptation to do something foolish like going out and completing a Hulk Buster or an All-Father. (And, my resolve on both was weakening by the day.)

So, yeah, I got a Mandroid arm (and, by extension, a second Mandroid). And, I have less temptation. (Oh, and my colleague's kid is likely to be getting a Hydra Soldier.)

Got the Shazam! Archives volume 4 today. That's the latest volume published to date, so I've hit the limit of available Golden Age Captain Marvel. Too bad they didn't publish that DC Essentials "Monster Society of Evil" edition they were talking about a few years back.

"Hauled" in a new set of struts, shocks, and control arms. :(

A few kickstarted items arrived:

- ZipChip - a pocketable flying disk that you throw sidearm about 2 inches in diameter made of flexible rubber, it can be thrown 200 feet with practice. I've only thrown it in the house so far, but it's really keen, and I find myself pitching it in the air and catching it absent-mindedly.

- ALEX Bottle, black & glow - I already had the white & blue colorway, but the glow seemed fun, and the black matte was something I liked when I got one for a friend. Glows nicely green, although the regular-light non-glowing look is not green enough for my tastes, so it's basically black and milky white.

Also, after a computer update problem, I decided to finally make a backup disk in the form of a USB, but I only have 8gb and 64gb drives, it needed 16.2gb dedicated, I wasn't willing to use my 64gb for that so I bought a 32gb Sandisk tiny usb3.0 drive for $12, worked super nicely.

Hard drives are getting remarkably cheap for the space they offer, aren't they?

I got a package today containing:
-JAPANESE MACH ALERT. HOLY SHIT. Anyone that knows me knows that I would have always preferred the Japanese Mach Alert to the American RID Prowl. I wasn't fond of the tampo placement and how it completely covered up the black point logo that all the Japanese police cars have. Naturally, I went looking for a Mach Alert and found a few that were $40ish, but to hell with that, right? So I'm checking out auctions when I find this lot, containing this and the others below...for $15 shipped BIN. I got a Japanese Mach Alert for $15 shipped. He was listed as RID Prowl (clearly the seller had no idea or didn't care about the differences) and he's missing his missiles and launcher, which I also snapped up for about $5 from a different listing--more than worth the "hassle" of having to buy parts from a different source and paying a little extra. Especially when the lot also contained...
-US Super X-Brawn, missing one of his missiles (the doofy sword one) and apparently, the bumper protector thing that goes in the front. My own regular X-Brawn has been missing that piece since literally the day I got him (I was a child!) so I usually forget he even has it; it'll probably be a pain in the ass to get a new one, but luckily it's chrome, so it's not unique to him specifically--I may grab a Universe Ratchet and gank it from him, for example. I'll have a little spare cash kicking around because the lot also contained...
-A spare (for me) US Super Side Burn! Missing the missile and the hand blade/gun thing (ironically the very same pieces I'm missing from mine), which seem to be harder to replace on a Super example than a standard (and are different colours from the default so I can't just use those instead), but hey.

$15 for any one of these toys would be a pretty decent offer at this point, even if I already had duplicates or had to get the accessories. But to get all three for such a low price is insane, especially Japanese Mach Alert! I'm so incredibly happy to have found it at that price. I am two Spychangers away from completing the entire 2001 lineup and cartoon cast, which leaves a handful of dudes from 2002 in the rerelease/repaint portion (like Green Megabolt, AAOP, etc.) to complete the line, including the over $40-50 Destructicon Scourge, probably one of the most expensive figures in the line that I don't have. (Brave Max is technically only a Car Robots release, so I'm not really counting him.)

Yeah, alright, fine, eat my post, yeah, I didn't want it anyway.

-BW Retrax! Always wanted Retrax, especially after we put him in our incredibly lame fanfic that involved non-show toys. Non-show toys! Such a strange concept in this day and age when many of our toys are dudes who don't appear in "the show," which only a fraction of us care about! Toys like T-Wrecks or Retrax or King Atlas are no longer special, they are almost the norm now.
-BW Fox Kids! Rhinox! I had this version of Rhinox as a kid--my parents knew that I liked Rhinox--but I hated that he wasn't green like he was in...the show. So I spraypainted him green. Badly. Last I remember, that toy was waiting to be restored in a box somewhere in this house but I have NO clue where that would even be now. Much easier to buy a new one for $5.
-A complete Super Side Burn from RID, to steal weapons from. Now I have to sell two Super Side Burns. This is my life.
-Piece of Jetfire leg armour. Just need the big leg clips now, and new arm guards, and fresh Reprolabels, and for my Jetfire to stop yellowing little by little. :(
-This is the big clusterfuck of the day: CHMS purple Rainmaker. The auction listed it as Botcon Hotlink, which is what I was searching for in the first place...Unfortunately, I didn't check carefully enough and bought it, at what I considered a $35 steal for a Botcon toy, especially of Hotlink's caliber--he is normally almost double that. So I jumped on it, and now I'm kinda disappointed. Not that disappointed, mind you, because the CHMS Seekers tend to go for about $25-30 shipped anyway, but I'm still mad that I thought I was getting a cheap Botcon exclusive when I was actually getting a correctly-priced knockoff.
Still, I was thinking of grabbing something else from CHMS (Black Death Starscream in particular) so if this is any indication of quality, I'll probably be picking that up.
