Re: New Star Wars cartoon - SW Rebels - is quite good!

So anyone wanna rustle me up a big ol' bowl of crow to eat?
Not having watched The Clone Wars and having laughed off the trailer to this thing, I thought I was set to ignore it (I hadn't even read this thread past the beginning of Page 2 until now). Then, by sheer chance, I found out that Greg Motherfucking Weisman was producing/writing it, thus obligating me to at least check it out. So I grabbed all the episodes at the time (11) to watch. And did so within 24 hours.
It is, indeed, Pretty Good. I'll concede that a lot of the dialogue that made me vomit in the trailer (particularly the "He did" line) was in fact out of context (and Hera's horrible "Try blasting them" line hasn't even been in the show!). It's actually a very brisk, highly watchable show, the pacing is spot-on.
Still not crazy about Ezra. He's just WAY too blatant of a 'main character', it's annoying. And as been said, he's basically just Aladdin (looks like Aladdin, sounds like Aladdin, acts like Aladdin, the actually call him a friggin' 'street rat' at one point!). He's grown on me a smidge, but it was more irritating at the beginning. Kanan and Hera are great though, and I have no idea why the trailer left out Zeb (I actually expected him to die in the pilot just because I hadn't seen him at all in the lead-up) since he's a great character too. He also gets major props from me for being a Steve Blum character who doesn't use Blum's normal voice (all the Stormtroopers do though, which makes me laugh).
It has been easy for me to get cynical about the show. "No, show, you don't get to just mention Tarkin and make me excited. That's not how it works." But then Tarkin actually SHOWS UP and it's awesome! Thus far, it does a remarkable job of LOOKING just like Star Wars, and that's good, but also makes me look sideways at it sometimes, like I feel that it's playing me, trying to get into my good graces simply by really effectively pretending to be Star Wars. Which I guess is the caveat when you go into an actually-good show not particularly WANTING to like it at first.
Am concerned about what'll happen to the show after Weisman leaves (kinda hoping he's actually only leaving for the second season as a way to circumvent The Curse and he'll be back once Season 3 starts), but I decently trust the other guy, the Avatar guy, to keep running it at least this well.
