I was going to do so earlier, but wrote about that damned Hadron particle accelerator instead.

And yeah, that "Frankenstein Girls" album? That thing's spectacular. Excellent choice, there, o86.
It was bizarre, the MSI was in the Metal section. Not the Alternative or the Punk section, like I'd have expected. Of course, 'Snow Patrol' and 'Fall Out Boy' are in the Alternative section next to the Swans and KMFDM, so. What the hell is Fall Out Boy the alternative to? Good music?
But yeah, I was all "Hey, twelve bucks, and Scourge said it was good".

Yesterday I nabbed (Courtesy of my mate Starscream NZ who admins TFNZ, and a 15% off sale):

- Universe Galvatron: Average things come in small packages, it'd seem.

- Movie Evac: Why, why would I buy a bright orange retool of a crappy mould like Blackout? Because..there was a sale and I was curious, sigh. He gets points for the instructions featuring the line "Press button to drop raft into battle!" Yes. He comes with the Battle Raft. Battle Raft! Nananana!

I'll do a haul that covers the last month or so, I've been remiss in declaring my hauls.

Movie Stealth Bumblebee
Animated Snarl
Movie Cybertron Redeco BIG DADDY
And Wolf's Parade's second album, At Mount Zoomer

Also bought Animated Jazz for my brother, now I strongly want one. I need to buy a new Universe mould, then I want to do a four part review comparing the four latest TF lines. Man, Big Daddy is dissappointing

Dragonforce: Ultra Beatdown- The new CD, woo!

Transformers Movie Big Daddy and Decepticon Fracture- Oh Fresno Wal-Mart, you tricky, tricky bastard. You make me think you're not getting your set of exclusive Movie redecos and that I'll never have a Big Daddy, and then you put them all out in store displays three months later with the OTHER set of redecos! No Jolts there though, oddly, bah! Anyway, you cry blasphemy 'Crunch, Big Daddy is awesome! I loved the mold already, and it was a perfect choice for the character; the vehicle mode looks especially slick. The paint on the head's admittedly a little not good, but the rest of it is very nice. As for Frasher, when pics of her first popped up I didn't really care for her, but with better pictures coming out recently, then finally seeing her in person convinced me: this is a very pretty redeco. Great color balance in both modes, they did a lovely job on the head. It's also another mold I'm quite fond of, so that helps too. Would really like to see that Oil Slick repaint into Cy-Kill now. Who could they use for Cop-Tur?

And screw the movie, these are going with my Classics.

What's the word on Grindcore? I have at least a passing interest in that toy...

Animated Sentinel Prime and Swoop. So I'm all caught up ('cept for Magnus, who wasn't "officially" released in the states yet) with Animated for now, as far as unique molds are concerned.

In fact, I'm only missing Elite Guard Bumblebee, and dammit it's hard to not be a completest when you're this close.

I can has an awesome box of win:

- Deep Space Starscream, who was finally released here, and is very pretty. I'm keeping this one sealed 'cause O6 is sending me a loose one.

- Encore MiniBots set. Tailgate, Swerve, Outback, Pipes, and 'Bee with the new headsculpt from the previous MiniBot set. MiniBots are spiffy. Tailgate was my first ever TF, so it's neat to have another. Do still want an original, though, mouldwear has hurt these a bit.

- Encore Skywarp/Thundercracker two-pack. Seekers! Glee! I love them so. Of special note is the lighter blue used for Thundy, with a different style of metallic flake, and that their wing stripes and symbols are tampos. Well done, too, as the symbols have the classy silver backings. Now I have spare faction symbols, sweetbix. Also especially cool to see their boxart side by side. It's surprisingly different.

Also, I bought a USB fan at work today. It's fantastic. Ahahahahahaha.

Oh there's nothing inherently bad about Big Daddy, except that he looks like Halloween decided to turn into a robot with shoulder cannons and a lavender face, and the clear-ears really lose the light piping effect they originally served... okay, so maybe I think he suffers a bit from lazy redeco syndrome, but there's nothing inherently wrong with the mould. In fact, I'm sure if I had picked this guy up 2 or 3 years ago when Cybertron was in full swing I would have been totally enamored with him and he would have had jolly adventures with his stout buddy Cannonball and he and Sideways would've gone trick-or-treating because that's just the way my mind works. But in those 2-3 years I've been spoiled with the extreme amount of detail and complexity in the movie toys and in the elegant stylized designs of the Animated toys, and I guess I'm just not that impressed with a big blocky car that turns into a big blocky robot. The guy's all 90 degree angles and squares. He gets points for the key gimmick and and awesome vehicle mode, but I think slick robot design is more of a factor for me these days.

Big Daddy compared to say, Animated Lockdown, feels like Energon toys compared to Cybertron. He's good, but I've just moved on. I don't how things work at Hasbro, but I can trace a sort of geneology or evolution from Armada to Animated that I want to tease out and put to text, but I don't know how Classics/Universe fits in yet.

I agree, but I'll note that I always thought that about the Downshift mould. Still dig the homage too much to pass them up.

I got these the other day too, whee!

I kinda like the fact that Big Daddy's ears are almost totally clear. Makes me notice them less, so he looks less like Wheeljack to me. Otherwise, I can kinda get what you're sayin' 'Crunch, and had this been any other repaint, I probably would've passed it up. But man, Big Daddy! Of course, I really want Jolt too, but that's a different story altogether.

I fail to see how that can possibly be a bad thing...

But I can see where you're coming from with Big Daddy. Still, the Downshift mold is a bunch of fun. He has similar appeal to Cyclonus, where you just pile mini-con weapons on him until it becomes ridiculous. Throw on the Cybertron minicon weapon dudes for instant "Cybertron Defense" Downshift!
