Your fan thoughts on Takara MP-17 & 18 being Prowl & Smokesc

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!

I guess it all comes down to personal taste. I love the silver body/black hood with the red on Bluestreak, all blue is just kinda 'meh' by comparison, and like I said, not too different from what Smokescreen does.

Don't know where you think Universe Smokescreen is visually similar to Prowl, he's completely different, his bold silver and dark red setting him clearly apart from Prowl's clean black-and-white look.

I continue to find it hilarious that all three Datsun/Nissan/Whatever guys got released within waves of each other in the same line, while people had to wait for like five years to get all their Seekers.
He said Bluestreak, not Smokescreen.

I've had Brawn and it was "good enough".

Prowl said Smokescreen, but I'm pretty sure he meant Blue/Silverstreak. Smokescreen didn't have any silver, and his red was really bright.

On the opposite end: Universe Smokescreen sucks, Henkei Smokescreen looks way better.

What Six said, damn Freud had his way with me. I knew JT was talking about Silverstreak, and that's who I meant when I said he wasn't visually similar to Prowl.

The deluxe sized MP TF's are stupid,lame-o & just Awful,Had these been done at the voyager size scale I would have bought them & been interested in them. Sorry the deluxe & below size class is aimed at toddlers. At the very least the voyager size scale & about is aimed at teens & adults. IMO,Having MP TF Sideswipe,MP Prowl at the deluxe size makes them smaller & inferior to the voyager size scale Alternators/BT toys.

I'm hoping Hasbro in America doesn't bother selling these deluxe sized MP TF toys of Sideswipe,Smokescreen,Prowl & Blue/silverstreak. Because without Hasbros global distributors supports Takara will be forced to cancel this deluxe Sized MP TF size scale. Similar to Takara being forced to cancel other TF toy lines Hasbro didn't want like Alternity,Kiss players,etc...

I'd rather Takara focus on creating the bigger sized MP TF toys like in the 8 inch ultra size & 9.5 inch leader size. Their is just so many bigger size scale & higher ranking TF toy characters I want to see done in the MP TF toy size scale like Masterforce overlord,Starsabre,victoryleo,1986 G-1 Galvatron,1986 Cyclonus,Deathsauras,8 inch ultra Sized 1985 Astrotrain,8 inch ultra sized Blitzwing,etc...

If anybody wants MP TF prowl,mp smokescreen,mp silver/bluestreak & sideswipe they can still buy the takara versions & shop at those import on-line sites.

I honestly don't see stores in america stocking these for $40 to $50 each, the only way hasbro can hope to sell these is as two packs for around $60.

I honestly don't think Hasbro thinks it's worth paying those liscense car fees for these MP TF toys like datsun & lamborgini. because after those liscense fees are paid their's less profit to be made by hasbro. due to the much lower volume units hasbro TRU USA sells them at. at the very least when Hasbro pays for liscense fees for liscense cars for the TF live movies, hasbro sells more volume units around the world. also hasbro makes a deal with GM to advertise the newer liscense cars in the live action TF movies & pays much less in liscense fees for the toys.

What? That's not why those lines ended. They ended because Transformers wasn't selling well. And isn't Alternity still going? I don't pay attention to it because that line sucks.

Takara doesn't make their stuff for any market other than Japan.

Sorta. Takara is making a Convoy, Saber, Megatron and Maximus figure all of which are based on the reuse of the Nissan GTR mold that they used for the first Alternity Convoy, but the line is going to be called Transformers GT rather than Alternity.

I just have to point out that they are somewhat larger than a deluxe sized figure and a little shorter than the Binaltech figures from the images I've seen of Lambor side-by-side for comparison. So I'd say they're closer to the Beast Wars mega scaled figures.

Low-res photographs aside, those two figures look great. I'd definitely like to have both.

Takara needs Hasbro's global suppport whenever they create newer molds TF toys. Because Hasbro gets the most volume/profits use out of the molds,as Hasbro has more distributors world wide. Without hasbro's support,Takara's exclusive TF toys are a failure in profits sales. Takara needs hasbro's global distributors to make the creation of newer TF molds worth while & worth profitable.

The Reason were getting deluxe sized MP TF toys from Takara,Is because the Deluxe sized Alternity toys didn't get picked up by Hasbro.
Deluxe sized MP TF toys is Takara's way of trying to revamp the failed Alternity line & to trick hasbro on board.

I suspect Hasbro doesn't want the deluxe sized MP TF toys. Because it's a hard salesman sale to try to convince any USA stores to sell deluxe sized toys at the $30 to $45 price range. Even TRU won't be interested. Due to Hasbro having to pay liscense fees to Lamborgini & Datsun,Hasbro would have to recoop those fees by charging USA stores/buyers more for these deluxe sized MP TF toys. AT THIS POINT HASBRO PROBABLY DOESN'T THINK ANY STORES/BUYERS WILL PAY $30 TO $45 FOR A GLORIFIED DELUXE SIZE MP TF TOY,SO THEY WON'T BOTHER SELLING MP TF DELUXE SIZED TOYS WORLDWIDE TO THEIR GLOBAL DISTRIBUTORS.

Takara originally intended for Hasbro to sell the Alternity toys. as the first few test shots were shown to hasbro but Hasbro wasn't impressed so they passed on the line.

I hardly consider the alternity line a success. as most USA on-line fans don't buy the toys, those who bought them call the toys garbage.
the Alternity toys are released at a very slow pace, the altertity line got cancelled a few times only to return with remolded parts. the 2012 & 2013 alternity toys are not new molds, they are re-tools/repaints of existing 2011 older molds. So this line is on it's final leg.

I think the price and general corner-cutting on Alternity is what turned a lot of fans off on those. The few molds they had look pretty nice (in my opinion) and getting your choice of colors is pretty cool, and I probably would have bought a few had they topped out at $20 apiece, but at like fifty bucks? Eff that.

Alternators benifitted not just from being affordable for what they were, but also because at the time, they were the only game in town if you wanted new, articulated, super-detailed versions of classic G1 guys (Classics wouldn't exist for several more years), so the option of getting a snazzy new Smokescreen, Sideswipe, or Hound for the first time in decades appealed to people. Alternity doesn't have that advantage, to the point that the characters they're doing are mostly the same guys like Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, and Ultra Magnus just as sportscars. The fact that they're all so same-y doesn't help them much, and the insane price meaning you're paying more to get less than you did with Alternators is the real nail in the coffin.

The new 'Transformers GT' or whatever Optimus and Maximus look pretty nice though, I might get one of those if I can find them for non-psychotic prices.

Anyway, I highly doubt Takara's trying to 'trick' Hasbro into picking up MP Autobot Cars/Alternity with these releases. The reason we're getting Masterpiece toys of guys like Sideswipe and Prowl is...they're popular G1 guys that people want Masterpiece toys of, just like Grimlock and Soundwave, and the reason they're 'Deluxe-sized' is so they'll be in-scale with the already released guys like Optimus, Starscream, and co. For every person howling about how Sideswipe is too small, you'd see an equal-but-opposite group howling if he was as tall as Optimus (and frankly, I see that group's point a lot more than I do the former's). That said, the $60-80 price tag is just as insane as what Takara was charging for Alternity, so that's at least one point against them.

Do you have friends that work for Hasbro or something, Tiggs? You seem to have a lot of insider information.
