Because Bandai does not give a single solitary fuck. PR is for babbys and that's why it doesn't advance. Unlike TF, which seems to aim to make people lifelong fans, Bandai realizes that anyone who will grow out of PR will be replaced by a new batch who will start watching almost immediately.

I almost wish Hasbro would take after Bandai, then.

Maybe they could even swap practices.

So appealing to the continually-present, longtime base as a way to exponentially increase the groups they can sell stuff to doesn’t appeal to them? Right, good call, you’re a biz wiz, BandaiofAmerica! I mean, it’s not like that model of making high-end items to continually cater to that ‘lifelong fan’ group works for Super Sentai and Kamen RiderOH WAIT.

Seriously, the Figuartses and DX belts and stuff for Riders regularly *sell out*. That’s nuts. At least Bandai’s *kinda* inching forward into that market, what with importing the ShinkenRed and Gold SHFs to TRU, maybe if they do well, we’ll see more stuff like that. I actually kinda want to pick up Genta, now that I’ve seen him in action (I *wish* I could get his morpher for non-murderous prices, but I don’t think that’ll happen).

No way, man! If all we'd gotten from the Movie lines was Fast-Action-Battler style simplistic stuff, I'd have a sad. I'm not asking for Bandai to turn out Masterpiece Megazords or anything, but if we could just have toys that are as legitimately cool as what we're shown on screen, I'd be happy. Sentai Mecha aren't exactly the most articulated things in the world to begin with, just making the toys with *that* half-decent level of posability would be a start.

Oh, I agree with you tenfold. Nobody was more disappointed in the 2010 reboot Megazord than me. It's sad when the only improvement over my 1992 original was 'below-knee swivels.'

Customizing yielded: A TFU "Legends" Autotrooper, recoloured from a "sorta movie, but not really" Sandstorm figure. Unfortunately, as its dominant colours are black and white, the red Autobot sigil makes it look unfortuntately German. (I am going to avoid using "red stripes for commanders" on the next one....)

I've gotten a bunch of stuff lately and am far too lazy to remember what any of it is.

There's certainly plenty of sci fi that's set precedent for "gold" being the command color. Star Wars has blue for scout troopers, red for jr. officers and gold for command and then of course there's Original Series Star Trek.

Oh also: Haul: A knock off Cybertron figure from my friend. I'm horribly unfamiliar with Cybertron toys, it's a pteradactyl of some sort. Probably from Scourge's lizard planet or something.

Knock-off Brimstone.

So, are knock-offs okay? Honestly, it sounds like you are trading proper cocaine for crack or meth here....

And, customizing for me yielded...

G2 colours Bumblebee. Recoloured from a TFU Legends BB, and now standing on the shelf next to my custom G2 Beachcomber.

It was something monetarily worthless that was gifted. Therein lies the two main differences.

A bunch of stuff over the past few weeks, but I don't feel like dredging it up, none of it was noteworthy TF.

You guys talking Power Rangers, what the hell is up with that brand? Bandai seems to crank out 5 times more product than they sell in both good years and bad, I've never not seen that line at clearance at year's end. It's like they it costs so little to manufacture that they don't care how much of it they eat, they'll always have more buyers than failures. Is that really how they run their brand?

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?
