Weapons and abilities I'd like to see in it? Not for my character, but for everyone... Well, mind control is pretty cool. I'd like to see an enemy cerebro-shell's effect on a character as unintelligent as mine.

Still haven't thought up a name yet, though. Turns out the sea sucks.

I vote for "Breakwater."

That's definitely on the list. I'm having a surprisingly hard time finding one that implies "water", "brute force" AND works on more than one level. Breakwater, Riptide... I dunno though, those are almost too believable. Like they've been TFs already.

A little more story context would help (again)- are we assuming all of our characters are based in the US, like most serieses? 'Cos I feel like I've officially exhausted the English language and am moving onto others.

If my character has to be a commie hovercraft to get a cool name, they will be.

Just us a name that sounds like something that would applied to a legitimate Transformer.

You are worrying far too much about the setting. Just design a playable character.

I will try to design cerebro shells this week.

...Ok, seriously? I only asked what country it'd primarily be set in. I'm sure you're a fine and dandy DM in real life, especially with experienced players, but I'm really not feeling this anymore. Maybe next time, once there's a proven set of rules and I've seen how these things go down.

I have already explained the setting in several other posts. You can easily do research on the setting for Prime and the like. I am sure you can work out what "synoptic continuity" means. Honestly, how much tedious and grinding detail do you need?

I didn't think Dom had DM'd before. That's why this is a process.

Honestly I would have the same problem. Asking you to design a playable character without defining "playable" is an impossible task, or at least one that takes more time than it's worth for somebody unfamiliar with tabletop RPGs, as I'm given to understand you are.

I'm assuming it's set in the US, and in modern day.

Frankly, given the lack of detail at this point, you should design whatever you want and then leave it to the DM to later sort it out.

Thanks for the sympathy, Ursus, but honestly my enthusiasm for this has been drained.

The thing about "tedious grinding detail", Dom, is that we have different definitions of what that is. How much detail do I want? Precisely the amount I ask for.

And you've said several times this RPG would draw from basically every series ever, so what the heck does "Prime and the like" mean? It's simple stuff like that that's put me off. If this had been a "Prime RPG" or "Machine Wars RPG" from the start, that would've been fine.

....More fine, anyway. I probably still wouldn't have understood the essential basics of character creation and combat, and constantly being told that story context isn't important still would've wound me up just as much. Like I said, maybe once the rules are perfected through one good playthrough. Not this time, though.

As I said, I explained the setting as being synoptic. In other words, I am going to borrow heavily from various iterations of the franchise, much like Prime does now. The game will be set primarily on Earth. I am not going to sit here and write up a full key for the setting listing which story element comes from where. Those are not much fun to read and they are a grind to write, especially when I am trying to write up some kind of playable rules.

Try to come up with a character than can do more than just stand around talking to other characters.

It seems like you're asking for a character who works mechanically with or without working roleplaying wise. For somebody who doesn't play tabletop RPGs this is an impossibility.

Also, if you eventually decide to play, Gomess, and because names are fun, I vote for "Capsize," or "Downhaul."

Also, there hasn't been a TF named Breakwater before.
