N64 online emulation is...not reliable. You need a reasonably beefy machine and connection to get it working without desyncing the games. (N64 emulation is where I actually have the most experience with running things. All those years of my wasted youth, working on modding WWF No Mercy...!)
And yeah, Star Fox sucks ass now but Command is the closest they've had to a real Star Fox game anyway. SF64 (Lylat Wars over there) was the best one, seriously...
And yes, I always loved the manual puppets.
