Okay, screw it. The thread is now 18+.

No point having a flamewar with a bunch of horny teenage boys that are jacking off to Starfire.
There is so much wrong about this statement.

First off, are they teenage boys? Really? Really? Really? Last I checked, the median age of comic readers has not gone down much since we were kids. If anything, it has gone up. (This makes DC's allenating the kiddie market all the worse.) I am pretty sure that the people Starfire is meant to appeal to are "that guy" and his friends. (Enjoy that image Crabby ol' boy.)

And, lets stop beating around the (burning) bush (of Starfire). Who the fuck is going to masturbate to a comiC?

There, the question has been asked.

Seriously though, who is going to masturbate to a comic book? Okay, there might be the occassional furry or other deviant, but how many of them are there?

Even kids can get some degree of *actual* porn. Lets assume "no internet" for the moment. DC is not, as far as I know, publishing images of full nudity with visible naughty bits. (Please tell me this assumption is correct.) There is comparable material on television or in magazines. And, I am not even talking about purpose made porn. The media has plenty of rude imagery. And, kids can most likely get actual porn.

Adults would have even less reason to punch one out to Starfire. There are varying degrees of pornography (types of models, styles of dress/undress, whathaveyou) available for various self-pleasures. There are enoughmodels with altered bodies (artificially big boobies and the like) to negate the need for a cartoon girl even if somebody does not like real proportions. Hell, there are actual pornographic comics. I am sure that at least some of them have distorted boobied women.

Is DC really trying to break in to the fap-fodder market with comics? Wouldn't Warner Brothers, (who owns DC), be better served by...I dunno, selling actual fap fodder through mainline stores rather than faux-fap-fodder through comic shops? Am I the only one who thinks that "Bodaciously Buxom Babes with Bouncy Boobies" would be a more marketable magazine than "Red Hood and the Tittied Titans"?

What is wrong with the world?

Dom
-no, really. Is DC trying to compete with real porn?

I'm no expert (lol), but I'd hazard a guess that Googling "Starfire" without SafeSearch on would turn up a vast, vast repository of occasionally professional-level Starfire porn drawn by people with no connection to DC. Probably not even paid commissions; just erotic fan art for the sake of it.

So no, DC should not be wasting their time doing Starfire porn. Especially when Z**e and I***********s do it better.

GROW UP, DC

I'm gonna kind of play Devil's Advocate here and say that it is not sexually deviant to masturbate to the image of an attractive female, regardless of whether that female is real or imaginary. Now if one rubs one out to the image of Man-Bat or Gorilla Grodd, then you've got problems. Starfire though? Not so much. Now, understand that saying this does not mean that I condone what DC has done with the character. Turning her into a sexpot nymphomaniac is truly insulting to women and downright chauvanistic and should be discouraged. But, a teenage boy rubbing one out to Starfire should be no less offensive than firing one off to a Frederick's of Hollywood catalogue.

I think Dom's problem is that DC are actively and overtly trying to CONVINCE their audience to do that. Which is fucking horrible.

Fancying a fictional character is fine, from an audience perspective. But from a creators' perspective, DC need to leave the porn to the aforementioned experts.

Besides, subtle eroticism is one of the most common and widely appealing fetishes out there. I reckon more kids fancied Cheetara than will ever fancy this new Starfire.

Shockwave, here is the thing, I have no problem with it if somebody wants to fap to a comic. Ya know what, that is there right.

But, how many people are going to punch one out to Starfire when they can go buy an issue of the latest lad mag? Why the hell is DC even givin the appearance that they are trying to muscle in on that market?

Dom
-Cheetara? Uh.....

Uh... lots. I agreed with the rest of what you said, but you're being seriously naive about my (and presumably your) generation here.

SERIOUSLY naive. Wow.

Get the rest of the young'uns in here, we need to wake Old Man Dom up to the idea of fictional characters often being hotter than real people.

EDIT: Wait wait wait. I think I already found the problem here: Dom seems to be an Any Port in a Storm sort of guy. Like, the most important thing about eroticism is the sheer presence of tits; it doesn't matter who they belong to. Well, believe it or not, there are masses of people who find specific individuals (whether real or fictional) sexy in and of themselves. The reason people "rub one out" to Starfire isn't because they're starved for porn, or think tits are hot, but because they think *Starfire* is hot. Dom's problem is he doesn't give a crap about characters (as he's said many times), so naturally he won't understand it. But there's the facts.

Okay, a couple things.

1. When I called them teenage boys, it was more based on their behavior than on actual knowledge of their age. That might be an insult to actual teenage boys, so I'm sorry if I offended anyone here (I don't think anyone here is still a teenager, are they?).

2. When I said they were jacking off to the comic, I wasn't being literal. More just an exaggeration of their ogling Starfire than anything. Now if they actually are beating one out to Starfire, well. . . that's their business.

Hope that clears some things up.

SERIOUSLY naive. Wow.
Yeah, apparently I am.

Okay, I am going to say it. The idea of somebody who is anywhere past early puberty getting a stiffy, (regardless of what they do with it) from a comic is bother amusing and disturbing. Seriously. I am barely even seeing the reptile brain appeal here. If nothing else, real porn would have the desired effect more easily than a clearly fictional comic.

And, in case it needs clarifying, I was saying "boobs" as shorthand for what Starfire or a porn girl would be. Somebody could be giving themselve the stranger to her shoulders for all we know. Ya know what, if somebody is attracted to alien girls with flaming harir or half cheetah hybrids, I would hesitate to speculate about what throbs their balls.

Dom
-thanks DC, you made a comic thread not kid friendly.

It's odd, but I'm almost the exact opposite. I understand attraction to a familiar fictional character more than to a glossy-eyed silicon-breasted perfunctory contextless "babe" put there solely for my arousal. It's boring.

But I also see romantic attraction as a necessary element of sexual attraction, while Dom doesn't seem to, so I don't think we're ever gonna see cyclops to cyclops on this one.
