Universe2.0/Generations Review Thread

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Thrust is pretty rad and I like him a lot. End of review.

Okay, I'll elaborate a bit more. This guy as all the strengths of the previous uses of the mold. His colors work pretty well, all dark, reddish-brown, black, and some gold highlights that fit together nicely. The one I have doesn't have any issues with the paint, everything looks nice and clean. Also, all the joints on mine are very tight, this thing holds together nicely.

One touch on this toy that I like a lot is that he's got the regular Seeker guns, not the Ramjet missiles. It's a little extra thing to make this toy a little more different than his forebear. Of course, the wings do a little more there, but still. As for the wings, interesting way of going, making the VTOL bits removable. So you can put 'em on the tailfins or on either side of the wings. More display options? Why not!

One more thing about the wings here. You can display 'em flipped up, but then you run into the familiar problem where they block the arm articulation (at least, they do when the arms have the guns on 'em). You can solve this by flipping the wings down, like Ramjets, but Thrust's are a bit wider than Ramjets', so it doesn't quite look as good. Also, left down, the long tapering front of the wing is blocked by the robot's arm, so it doesn't quite fit into place. It stays at just enough of an angle to impede (just slightly) the leg articulation. Nothing that bad, and it's no worse than the other versions of this mold have done. Minor problem, really.

So, in conclusion, Thrust is pretty rad and I like him a lot.

Nice review. I'll be happy when the new figures show up around here. Argh.

How does Generations Thrust compare to the Botcon one?

I have Generations and the Henkei one and I like the Generations one better. The color just seems better for some reason and the paint app is less obnoxious. Or maybe I'm just being horribly Geewunny I dunno. I do like the moveable VTOL engines.

I'm...not interested. Seriously! Thundy's the only Seeker I want. And, well, a Skywarp. I passed on Ramjet and now they're making the other two and I'm screwed.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Even a Henkei Ramjet is still going for fairly cheap, so a loose US one should be easy enough to track down.

I think it's just a general disinterest, though. I've never been attached to any of the Coneheads, in character or design. Thrust is pretty but that's about it.

Anderson, I can look into finding one. But, the mark-up is going to be painful.

Thanks, man. It was short, because what else can be said about the Seeker mold by now, right? As for new figures, I'm sort of in the same boat, there's plenty of new toys around here, but the only two out right now that I really want (Thrust and Drift) are nowhere to be seen. But since I happened to have a deal going with Dom anyway, we were able to hammer out a trade. Technically I probably paid more than retail, but since I paid in toys and not in cash, I'm okay with that.

Wait until August, scuttlebutt is that Wal-Mart and Target are having big toy-section resets at the beginning of the month.

The Generations one comes with a couple of hundred extra bucks you can keep in your pocket. Best accessory ever.

Fair enough. I'm of the opposite view, myself. Ramjet's easily my favorite of the Seekers, so that goodwill towards him extends out to the other seekers. Besides, their names sound cool.

On that note, since I got Thrust, I keep getting the White Zombie song of the same name stuck in my head. So that's an extra bonus.

I also suppose I could part with mine seeing as how I have the Henkei version. I don't really need a lot of Thrusts.

Try thinking of baseball.

Oh, by the way, totally with you on your Henkei vs. Generations preference here. The lightning-pattern on the wings of the Henkei version is kind of neat, but I like the simpler colorscheme on the Generations one more.
