You have a point, OS, but there's a difference between a hard game and a cheap game. Most of the stuff on the Midway collection I found to be cheap. In the brief time I spent with them, I didn't get much enjoyment from any of them. I will say that Total Carnage was at least fun to play. It was still cheap as hell, but at least it was sort of fun. The over-the-top gore kind of turned me off though. And this from a guy that loves the Resident Evil series.
Total Carnage is more like Smash T.V. It's an overhead game where you go around shooting everything that moves. Kind of like Ikari Warriors or any of the overhead levels from a Contra game.

What? I don't get it! What are you saying?? Are you implying somethi--
ohhhh i get it
PENIS.
Anyway, I forgot how much I like run 'n' gun. Not as much as RPGs or fighters, but it's delightful to know I can still clear Mega Man X without dying once, and the majority of levels without being hit.
Man, Total Carnage is awesome. It's got one of my favorite Final Bosses of all time. He's your stereotypical 90's European Dictator type, and naturally heads into the final bout with you in a giant robot head shaped like his own. Well, you blow the crap out of that, and it momentarily retreats into a garage or something, only to resurface as the blood-red, wide-eyed face of an undead Satan. So you beat *that*, and it goes back in one more time, then comes back out as the giant head of HITLER for the final round! Great visual demonstration of Satan<Hitler, Midway, bravo.

Never played the game or anything, but man, that sounds friggin' amazing.

While I liked both Total Carnage and Smash TV, I could never get very far in either one of them. I do actually like most of the games on the Midway disc though. So much that I actually have it for both PS2 and PSP. There are the obvious Mortal Kombats 1-3 that I enjoy (even though the AI IS actually cheap as hell), but Gauntlet is one of my all time favorite time wasters. Mako, I'm guessing you didn't bother to press the button to increase your amount of health. Otherwise you die quickly (it is called Gauntlet after all, what did you expect?) And aren't Marble Madness and Paperboy on that disc? I love those games. Suck at Paperboy but still fun.
Anyway, I finally got something other than the xbox working so lately I've been playing Pitfall (yes, the original for the Atari 2600), Command and Conquer Red Alert Retaliation and Warcraft II. I have determined that the only reason anyone dies on Pitfall is from impatience. Basically jumping before you should. I mean, the enemies don't move at all and if you're careful you can time your jumps safely. But inevitably everyone gets impatient and jumps too soon and dies. C&C I enjoy the skirmish mode and Warcraft II I just love. Now I need to find my PS1 Memory cards so I could save the damned games and go through the story mode again.

Yeah, didn't know about the health trick. Oh well. I should've mentioned that this was Midway Treasures vol. 2 that I was playing. No Marble Madness or Paperboy. I did, however, just give my brother-in-law Marble Madness on the nintendo for his b-day, and was playing that quite a bit before I wrapped it up. That game is still hard as hell but a lot of fun!
Ah, different compilation, gotcha. I have so many compilations that I forget what's on what. I also wind up with the same title on multiple systems. Like the afforementioned Marble Madness. I have it on the compilation and I also have it on the original Nintendo. Also, found my PS1 Memory cards! Yay!
I've had Arkham Asylum for like, ever, and only barely scratched the surface of it. I kept getting killed and sucking at it. Well, Arkham City is out now, and I've basically been telling everyone, "Yeah I'm not excited at all because I didn't even finish Arkham Asylum because I didn't like it much," and everyone is like, "What the fuck is wrong with you, Arkham Asylum is awesome," and I'm like, "So everyone says," but now I decided, fuck it, I might as well pick it up and give it a shot. I just beat Bane and I gotta say--I'm actually in now. The Scarecrow fight was awesome and so was the Bane one. I can't wait for the rest of the game now.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.
I'm thinking of heading out to Target to pick up Arkham Asylum. Hell, it's only twenty bucks right now, so that's not too bad.
In other news, that Little Big Planet 2? That game is awesome. I think I've wasted about as much time just messing with the main character, making him dance and changing his/her outfits and stuff as I have actually playing the game. It's nuts, there's like, seperate controls for the sack guy's expressions. There's separate controls for his arms and such. And you can customize the hell out of the character and his surroundings. Then that's before you actually get into the game. Conceptually, not that different than a Mario game, I guess. Little dude has to go around through different areas and jump on stuff and beat different challenges. But the look of the game is really crazy and neat, and the music to it is pretty much amazing. So if there's anyone else around here with a PS3 (JT and Shocky, right?) this game's totally worth checking out.

Sorry, I'm on the Xbox. But, a friend of mine exposed me to Little Big Planet 1 and I was equally impressed by it. If I ever do wind up with a PS3 you can bet it'll be on my list.
