Got people reading or talking about it, don't he?

I dunno, I haven't been following that faithfully, but I know one of these days I'm gonna read Morrison's whole Bat-run in collected form. And I really can't think of another writer that makes me want to read Batman. So I'd say he's doing something right.

I supposed any publicity is good publicity, in that sense.

I'm actually curious enough to read his Batman run once it's collected, mainly because he's referencing the Silver Age storylines like the crazy traveling to alien planets and time travel. It actually sounds interesting on a certain level. Maybe once the whole run can be read at once it will make more sense.

On the other hand...

Good lord Morrison....why?

WHY?!!?!???!!?????
Yeah. I still say this is about the stupidest idea ever. I don't see how it can possibly work. Anything that raises Batman's public profile is a detriment to the character.

It would work if there was actually a linear storyline, rather than the assumption that this whole thing is going away almost as soon as it begins.

Dumber than when the drug-addicted luchadore broke his back so he recruited a guy in really goofy-looking armor to be Batman for awhile?

What are you talking about, Scourge? Everyone knows Batman comics weren't published from 1993 to 1995.

That wasn't Batman's finest hour, I agree. I think this is bad in a different way. At least when Jean Paul Valley replaced Bruce Wayne, the writers had a point to make: that a Batman willing to maim and kill isn't a good thing. The story ultimately underlined what makes the character work. It looks like Batman Inc. will do just the opposite, at least to me.

I'm thinking we wont be seeing the replacement chosen until near the end of the series personally. I really doubt Bruce will be the replacement for the White Lantern.

How is announcing he's secretly been funding Batman all these years "all but" saying he is Batman? There is a pretty big difference there... But anyway, you'd think Bruce would have some legal repercussions for saying he's been funding a masked vigilante.

If nothing else, Bruce Wayne is now very publicly linked to Batman. Which may well give plenty of people the opportunity to put 2 and 2 together, whereas before they may never have associated the two at all.

Sure, it publicly links Batman to Bruce Wayne, but Bruce funds a lot of different people and organizations. So what if people now know Batman is one of them? That isn't enough for people to figure out Bruce is Batman... or the original Batman as it is now. As Bruce said in the press conference, all that money for Batman's war on crime had to be coming from somewhere. It's possible some people already suspected he was getting it from someone like Bruce who has a lot of money.
