It does make it that much harder to take you seriously, though, when you are being overtly unreasonable.

As I argued elsewhere, there is a difference between having an open forum and tolerating idiots. In this case, we have 7 people who want to hijack the hobby for their own whimsy. That is less about opinions than basic manners. We can be open without letting people take advantage of us.
We haven't let anybody take advantage of us, that I know of. I already stated I wouldn't be counting their votes, nobody here was fooled by their posts to begin with.

Not like on TFW2k5 where they have news of Erector and Grimlock tied for first right now.
-everybody, jigger your votes at the last minute!
I'm 12% likely to change one of my votes to Brawn after my last post. I mean, the guy beat Soundwave how many times in the show?

I still don't think Dinobot won that last year fair and square. Willis used his influence to skew the entire election just to make the "It's not Geewun" joke and I will never believe that it was in any way a legitimate election. And I view the Erector thing on the same level just with slightly different motivations (they're still trying to make a joke, just not a funny one. Oh wait, Willis' joke wasn't funny either. ). Skewing and election is skewing an election regardless of motivation and any time it happens it illegitmizes the process. I definitely think though that JT is right, no one has pulled one over on us and it's nice to see that the integrity of this site is maintained (I never had any doubt that it would be). Now I've got no problem with people with different views coming on here, in fact, the debates stemming from that is one of the things that makes this site fun to post.

In fairness, Willis could not have delivered all of those votes himself. People chose to vote for Dinobot. (My real objection was to Willis making it all about him.) And, as bad as some beast-fans can be, the votes for Dinobot were legit in the sense that the people voting actually supported the character for reasons having to do with the franchise rather than a creative misreading.

Speaking of debates though, where the hell is Sparky?

What creative misreading? Also I'm given to understand that they voted that way to support Willis' joke not out of devotion to the BW series. Yeah, he couldn't have done it all by himself but he apparently has enough influence in the fandom to swing it his way.

I know that BW, and Dinobot, enjoys no small amount of support in the fandom.

And, as much of a twit as Willis is, when he organized the votes for Dinobot, he did the same thing that any of us are trying to do for our favorites. Do you think I would hesitate to put Jazz or Mirage over if I could? Willis just did an exceptionally good job of organizing fans, and making it about himself.

The misreading in question is that the people standing tall for Erector are supporting the character because the name sounds like a dick joke, even though we can assume it was not Habro's intention that anybody ever do that.

Yeah, I've been meaning to say. As annoying as Willis was about Dinobot, he didn't put him over for a joke (I honestly didn't even see him making "It's not Geewun" jokes, nor do I even understand how that IS a joke). Willis genuinely likes Beast Wars and Dinobot, so when the latter had a shot at the hall of fame, he campaigned like crazy for him. Yeah it was annoying, but it was borne out of a legitimate love for the character, which is certainly one of the things the HoF is about. Speaking honestly, I voted for Dinobot last year too. Yeah, it kind of annoyed me that I was voting for the same guy that an insufferable twat like Willis was, but if I can't put aside stupid differences like that to get one of my favorite characters from my favorite Transformers series into the Hall of Fame, then that just makes me more immature than he is.

Of course then Willis had to go an ruin that even by taking "full credit" for Dinobot's win afterwards. Dammit dude, I voted for Dinobot *despite* you, not because of you!

I don't want you guys to think I'm blowing you off, I do want to come back to this conversation, and I want to explain my votes. But for now, I've just gotten word that my bed delivery is happening at 8 fuckin' AM, so I have to drive across town in morning rush hour at 7, so I'm tallying up the work now.

The final results are tallied. The entire list, in order...
  1. Grimlock
  2. Jazz
  3. Shockwave
  4. barricade
  5. Mirage
  6. Kup (tied for 6th, but more votes)
  7. Ravage (tied for 6th)
  8. Jetfire
  9. Devastator (tied for 9th)
  10. Thundercracker (tied for 9th, but more votes)
  11. Unicron (tied for 9th, but more votes)
  12. Wheeljack (tied for 9th)
  13. BW Megs (tied for 13th)
  14. Optimus Primal (tied for 13th)
  15. Prowl (tied for 13th, but more votes)
  16. Brawn (tied for 16th)
  17. Bulkhead (tied for 16th)
  18. Lockdown (tied for 16th)
How awesome is it that BW Megs and OP tied? :D

Had I included Bustajesse's votes (he was the only one to come back and try to explain / emotionally blackmail his vote ;)), it wouldn't have changed the top 5, but the rest would look like this...
  1. Grimlock
  2. Jazz
  3. Shockwave
  4. barricade
  5. Mirage
  6. Kup
  7. Ravage
  8. Jetfire (tied for 8th, but more votes)
  9. Erector (tied for 8th)
  10. Devastator (tied for 10th)
  11. Thundercracker (tied for 10th, but more votes)
  12. Unicron (tied for 10th, but more votes)
  13. Wheeljack (tied for 10th)
  14. Lugnut (tied for 10th)
  15. Sixshot
  16. BW Megs (tied for 16th, but more votes)
  17. Optimus Primal (tied for 16th)
  18. Prowl (tied for 18th, but more votes)
  19. Skullcruncher (tied for 18th)
  20. Brawn (tied for 20th)
  21. Bulkhead (tied for 20th)
  22. Lockdown (tied for 20th)
  23. Flattop (tied for 20th)

EDIT: There was a second there where I almost forgot to email Hasbro the results, stupid early morning confusing my brain already. :p

I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty jazzed that we got Barricade on the list at all. I don't expect to see him in the finals, but I think he'll be a contender in the years to come.

Damn, that ranking really skews things, with only 1 vote being enough to put a character in the top 10. Even at a small board like this one, that is a huge weighting.

Assuming that our top 5 is similar to Hasbro's, I might actually try to put Barricade over. Of course, if Erector makes Hasbro's cut, I will throw in with Jazz or Grimlock.

Dom
-Barricade, damn.
