Man, the one thing I really hated about the console Bionic Commando was the whole deal with them turning his wife into his bionic arm. I don't even know how that's supposed to work or why, but it's the damn stupidest thing I've ever heard. So imagine my face when I'm playing ReArmed and I'm in one of the FSA camps just milling about, talking with other soldiers, and they start talking about his wife, and how she's gone missing!! "Keep looking, man. You'll find her one day."
Aw, hell nah!!! Not in this game!! Not you guys too!! Keep that bullshit out of ReArmed and save it for the console shit! Thankfully that's as much as they ever say on the matter, so I can pretend like she left him for some other reason.
Man, out of all the stupid plot-twists I've ever come across, having Rad Spencer's wife get abducted and turned into his bionic arm has got to be one of the all time most idiotic ones I've heard. It's insultingly stupid. So what about his whole bionic crew from ReArmed 2? Did one of them have their boyfriend turned into bionic legs? A dog got turned into a bionic nose? It's just so stupid. It's so stupid, that it pisses me off to the point of not wanting to play it at all. Maybe I could if I just skipped all the cut-scenes.
Next we'll find out that SpiderMan really built his web shooters 2.0 from Gwen Stacey's corpse.
Iron Man's new suit of armor will be built from Pepper Potts.
Batman keeps turning his romantic interests into new bat-gadgets. Vicki Vale? Yeah, she's his new utility belt. Chase Meridian? New set of rims on the Batmobile.
So is it implied that her soul is somehow in the arm? Cause y'know that would have all sorts of wierd implications for when it's late at night and he's watching internet porn...

Best joke to come out of that whole mess! Don't know about his wife's soul or anything. I never watched the cut-scenes on youtube or anything- just read about the whole thing, and never heard any mention of why they needed his wife specifically.

"According to Super Joe, in order for bionics to work perfectly, they have to sync with their host on both an emotional and physical level. In this case, Spencer's wife was the perfect candidate."
So...yeah.
Honestly, I don't mind the wife getting stuffed into a refrigerator because that makes Rad A MAN WITH NOTHING TO LOSE! but...making her the arm? I don't know.

I would've been just as happy if Rad never had a love interest at all, and his bionic arm was just a bionic arm with no soul juice in it. It's a prosthetic limb, basically. Prosthetic limbs work pretty well as soulless, mechanical, attachments.
Anyway, maybe I'll give it a rental sometime and give it a go just for the hell of it.
In the meantime! Just finished Batman: Arkham Asylum. Great game! I haven't been that addicted to a game in a very long time. It was to the point that I didn't want to put it down. The whole game just flowed so well, that there was never a good spot to turn it off. Took me a few days and about 12-14 hours total, I think, to beat it. I think it says I've only done about 60%. Loads of extra content, including all the Riddler puzzles that I have yet to solve. Very cool game and one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had gaming lately.
*looking up Bionic Commando clips on youtube*
AHH, What?! They made Super Joe a villain?! *throws the damn mouse at the monitor*

I've been super addicted to Minecraft lately. There's something relaxing about it.

I got made fun of for having Super Rub a Dub (demo) and Flower on my PS3. But like you said about Minecraft, Flower is pretty relaxing. Super Rub a Dub, on the other hand, is cutesy, but hard as hell.

Just beat the Challenge Tower on Mortal Kombat. Pretty awesome. Unfortunately the only prize for winning was unlocking Mileena's skimpy bandage costume, which I had from the get-go since I have the Komplete Edition. Too bad that there wasn't anything additional, but at least the challenges were still fun. I skipped maybe 4 out of the 300. Those few were driving me insane.
From here, I guess I'll check out the story mode.
Also downloaded PacMan Championship Edition. Game is fun.

Fuck yeah, love that little Pac-Man game. Trippy as balls and fun as hell; finally takes Pac-Man and moves it to its natural extension: the endless maze.
Also, when it came out, I picked up Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection, primarily to play Metal Gear Solid 3 again (first time since its initial release) and to play Metal Gear Solid 2 for the first time. I made pretty quick work of the two, but the version of MGS3 included is the Subsistence rerelease. Unfortunately, most of the cool shit from that release got cut, but it does include the (then-newly translated to English for the first time) MSX versions of Metal Gear 1 and 2--the second of which had never been properly released in America prior to MGS3.
And I gotta say, for an 8-bit game from 1990 (the MSX was basically an identical machine to the NES with a few tech differences), it holds up really well. There's some occasional bouts of "Where the fuck am I supposed to go" which can only really be solved by blind ingenuity, dumb luck or Internet walkthroughs, but other than that it's pretty sweet. The character portraits are sadly all redrawn, so you don't get the awesomeness of Solid Snake as played by Mel Gibson or Big Boss being Sean Connery, but the new portraits are more consistent with the later games anyway, so...trade-off? Thankfully the script remains intact (I guess?) so you get all the glory of Kojima trying to put a heartwrenching story into a 1990 MSX game. Also, the game has a LOT of scenes that ended up in Metal Gear Solid, perhaps providing an explanation for why this (and the original game) have never been remade for a modern console.
(Similar/identical events include spying on a female ally dressed in an enemy uniform and confronting her in the ladies' room, guys ambushing you on an elevator, guys chasing you up an almost endless spiral staircase, Gray Fox contacting you via Codec and identifying himself as "a fan," Snake hitting on a female the first time he meets her, fighting a Hind D with Stinger missiles, using a furnace/sauna and freezer to change the shape of a key, and a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting--and that's not even counting Metal Gear staples like using a cardboard box to disguise yourself and ride in trucks, or FOX-HOUND's complete insistence on throwing you to the jungle without a gun.)
Still, if you get a chance to play it, definitely do. Once I finish this, I'm gonna get back to playing Aliens vs. Predator and try to beat at least one campaign.

Dang, that makes Metal Gear Solid sound more like a remake than a sequel. Which is funny, because the whole plot of MGS2 was that they were trying to recreate the events of MGS1. Yeesh.

I'd still like to check out the MSX version though. Be kinda cool to see it with a proper translation.

I imagine it's kind of the same situation as Evil Dead 2, which is kind of a remake of Evil Dead 1 but it's also a sequel.
