It's like people who think Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music is a good album. It totally isn't, it really really sucks, but it's interesting that there's machines I suppose?
Come to think, I could probably sample a whole bunch of stuff from there and get away with it...

It SO is!! And he SO does! Before I had to study his work, I only knew a few of his pieces. But the more I studied him, the MORE I hated his stuff! It's terrible! Matisse is more my kind of guy with his super bright paper cutouts. I read that even Picasso was blown away by them. Hehe.Shockwave wrote: Holy crap dude! You're the only other person I've encountered who actually acknowledges that Picasso sucks! And he does! His work is terrible!
Never heard it, but you got my sentiments exactly. I'm kind of curious now. I may have to go dig up some of this Metal Machine Music.Onslaught Six wrote:It's like people who think Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music is a good album. It's not strictly "music," let's just say that.

I agree sometimes it's better to leave things alone & not poke the dead while their dead.
I don't like the idea of continuing the G-1 Marvel TF comic because as follows:
(1) simon furman wants to omit the events that happened in the G-2 comic. to make believe G-2 never existed & continue after issue #80 just seems lame. heck while simon's at it,why not omit marvel G-1 TF comics issues 50 thru 80. to omit esteblished canon & stories just because "one" feels like it makes zero sense.
(2) in the marvel TF G-1 comics issue #80. a huge chunck of the powerful warriors on both sides died in battle. doing a continuing series with what's left & didn't get killed seems like a rather weak/in-experienced cast of robots warriors.
(3) Simon furman said in various interviews he hated all the gimmicks that hasbro forced him to put into the TF G-1marvel comics. like headmasters,targetmasters,powermasters,pretenders,actionmasters,micromasters,etc... after unicron destroyed a huge chunck of the transformers on eash faction. all that was left was the gimmick transformers & action masters. why would simon furman want to write tales of gimmick robots he hated. unless simon plans to make believe the gimmicks never existed like he did with the action masters in the G-2 comics.
(4) with a limited cast of warriors after issue #80,their is no where to go story wise nor battle fights. who's gonna wanna read about bludgeon & his pretender group. or prime & his action masters on cybertron.

I'd be more inclined to read a continuing TF Comics after the events that happened in G-2 issue #12. as their is more interesting story to read like the Hub,Leige maximo, swarm.
their is also interesting contiuning stories after G-2 issue 12. like exploring the newer G-2 warriors personalities. exploring the exclusive UK G-2 Character toys persona's. seeing the decepticons break the peace treaty & starting up the war again. seeing megatron & prime get their "hero combat" bodies. seeing prime get his laser prime body, the gobots cars & so forth.

Most of the 'Masters died fighting Unicron. Plus, we could assume that some of the Action Masters would like have their original abilities restored.
The thing most people forget is that G2 ignored a fair amount of (Furman written) G1.
Still, the more I think about it, the more I agree that it might not be a good idea to bring this book back.
Dom
-because that continuing "GI Joe" book is just sooo good.

Holy shit.
This is real(-ish). And, if I read the posting at AllSpark right, Furman himself initiated this. I do not know whether to admire his cohones or be ashamed of his shamelessness.
Dom
-waffling on signing it.

Re: Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.
Not signing. I am almost tempted to start a "do not relaunch the original series" petition. From the article at AllSpark, I gather that Furman is pushing for this and has no real ideas .
He promised an "upscaling" of things in the second arc, gave an unclear answer about what he was doing with G2 that I read as "recycling" and credited Andy Schmidt with being a "hands on" editor despite evidence to the contrary. (As much as I like IDW's output, there have been more damned foolish errors over the last few years than there should have been.)
Of course, the best bit has to be where he talks about how well the "GI Joe" continuation is going. Reception for that book cooled quickly enough and limped along on the fandom's respect for Hama until Hama got lazy. (And, that is on top of the fact that Furman is basing his pitch on a title that is the most regressive part of "GI Joe".)
Dom
-would buy it as a curiosity though.

Re: Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.
I'm guilty of being a Furman fanboy and even I think this is a bad idea. I'm also tempted to start an anti-petition.
Re: Dumb fans think Furman should write G1 #81 and beyond.
Of course, that might also give this mess even more hype.
Hey....I wonder how Willis and the other guys who work for Fun Publications feel about this. An IDW published G1-continuation would arguably be competition for the Fun Publication comics that Willis and co benefit from working on.
Dom
-might this cause fandom drama?
