I actually preferred the Energon version of the Unicron toy, but, as is usually the case with me and that series, I'm the ONLY ONE!
Still, I never got a version of that mold, so news of an upcoming repack makes me pretty happy.

I'm not sure I ever saw the energon version in stores around here. I saw the Armada-colored version in Energon boxes. I don't know that I'd have been tempted to buy a second version of Unicron, but the repaint did look pretty good.

I saw piles of it. I did not plan to get it when it came out and played "discount chicken" for a bit. By the time they were discounted, stores only had repacked of the original colored toy.
Dom
-gonna be getting this repack though.....

Unicron - world-sized robot that slowly devours all in his path.
Death Star - hyperdrive-enabled moon-sized space station with world-destroying superlaser.
Winner: Death Star, the thing that can move out of the way and then shoot the enemy. Granted, the Empire might be stupid enough to sit there the 10 minutes it takes Unicron to transform, but they'd still eventually shoot at him.

Unicron can also warp space. And, Unicron also sends proxies in advance, which could disable the hyperdrive and weapons of the Death Star.
Dom
-ah, the great debates.

I have both flavours, and EnerCron's bonus paint apps do impress me, actually. Especially the green wash on the planet shells, pulls so much more detail out of the truly fantastic sculpt. ArCron is just too..pastel and bland. I'd like a movie-deco even more, but as-is, EnerCron gets the win.

First, it's cheating if you say "he sends proxies in advance", that's crap, this isn't a battle of their forces, it's a battle of those 2 individual weapons - I didn't toss a Super Star Destroyer or any of that in there, you don't get any friggin' heralds.
For someone who hates Unicron as much as you do, you sure know a lot about the guy.

There's always the catch 22 of the Matrix - "The one thing, the only thing, that can stand in my way."
Since Unicron's defeat is always macguffin-based, and straight-up assault always seems to be mass suicide (Although a case can be made for Circuit Breaker), it's arguable that he could just shrug off the Death Star's laser and slowly eat the thing. But in terms of primary armament, I'm with JT, Unicron's planet mode does not have enough in the way of projectile weapons.
Examining the toy and the Armada appearance, I suppose he could use the great big chest cannon as a viable counter, should he have time to transform.

Unicron's got some other power, too, mind. His "voice" in planet mode is apparently enough to throw Megatron around like a ragdoll. What this means to the debate is anyone's guess, but.
