Generations Thundercracker

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Ok, so I finally got Thundercracker. Mine came misassembled with the right fist being upside down. I'm trying to fix it now but they put those stupid pins in there instead of regular frickin' screws so that makes the potential for damaging the figure that much worse. Putting that aside... I really like this figure. There were concerns that the mold may have degraded to the point where everything would be loose, but damned if everything isn't tight as it needs to be. And the color. Love that color. It's got that shiny sort of quality to it that the original had. Not sure if the Botcon one had that, I'll report in a couple of days when I receive it. But yeah, I'd highly recommend this figure.

Dang, all those Thundercracker profiles made me almost laugh out loud. And that's not a good thing in the office.

Sadly, the TF scene here is kinda boring lately. The latest wave to arrive was Skullgrin's, so I haven't seen Thundercracker yet.
Still not sure if I'd wanna get it, since I have the knock-off version though.

Well, the knock-off looks like the Henkei. This one, I think, looks better than the Henkei, so...

I don't have the knock offs, but with yesterday's haul I do have the three official versions. I'll be making a seeker review thread with pics for referrence. Personally, of the three official versions of TC released, the Generations one is the better version, the logos are the clearest the silver is the shiniest and the blue most closely matches the original to compared to the other two (I think, I don't actually have an original to compare it to). And it's also got the tightest joints of the three. Bottom line, Generations TC is the best one, get it if you can find it.

Does that mean I get double Lulz for not only buying Henkei but then forkin' out for BC AFTER receiving Generations TC?

No. You get a trip to the Hague for what you did to Thrust.

I should probably note at this point that Thrust is not actually broken, just partially disassembled. Also, those stickers come off easily with no damage so even those are still going to be in perfect shape at the end of this.

Well, I have not even read last week's comics. So, here is another toy review of sorts.

Thundercracker: (robot/plane)
There is really not much to say about this figure that has not been said. Tbundercracker shares moulding with the 2006 Starscream mould. Many would say the mould is the best representation of the origonal Decepticon plane character model. And, of course, it is Thundercracker.

After Thunder-gate at BotCon 2007, Thundercracker went from being a secondary character with a large following in the fandom to being a case study of Hasbro's inability to simply make toys to meet a proven demand. Thundercracker had support from the fandom, (including people who would likely buy multiple copies for customizing and such), and would not have had any real problems at mass retail.

Sadly, the "Generations" Thundercracker does little to change that. Thundercracker is one of several desireable figures that Hasbro did not release until just before the movie toys were scheduled to be released. While Thundercracker is not as ridiculously scarce as Windcharger, it is unlikely that this figure will show up in any meaningful quantities, (if at all), at retail. The only Thundercracker figures that I have seen are those owned by myself, Lewis and Zab. None of these were purchased at a brick and mortar store.

"Generations" Thundercracker does not have the same (really pretty) shade of blue that the BotCon figure or the original. But, it does look better than that stupid Henkei figure that some people (myself included) over-paid for.

The bottom line is that I am not even going to bother grading this. If you are even reading this forum, (let alone this thread), you want one. You know you do. And, putting aside all of the ridiculous drama and history, "Generations" Thundercracker is a good toy of an iconic character. But, the only way anybody is likely to get one is to hunt online, probably eBay.

It is definitely worth picking up if you see one. Hell, buy two or more for your friends. (You know they want one.)

And, yeah, I could say that "Generations" Thundercracker is just a toy and that nobody in their right mind should even consider making themselves crazy and spending stupid amounts of money to find. Hell, I probably should say that.

But, I won't.

Ya know why? Because you would not listen to me if I did. Hell, I would not listen. Scourge and I split a damned case to make sure we got our Thundercrackers. I have a second one to keep in the package that was also a "buy the wave" purchase.

I am standing by my promise to not hoarde Thundercrackers. If I find anymore, I will sell them at cost to people on this forum.

But, you know damned well I ain't gonna find one. And, if ya don't have one by now, ya probably ain't gonna find one either.
