Rebuilding the Gobots

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

*L* But you know, something along those lines, like you said. The face would be completely covered with an evil dark visor and full riding gear. Yeah. I'm liking this.
I dig it. I was thinking throw in some style tips from the great Rob Halford, and we got a mighty cool driver.

Also, it never particularly bothered me that Cy-Kill didn't seem as strong as some of his underlings. I kind of like that, it shows he's got something more going for him than just brute strength. So what's he got? Would his Renegades be a less treacherous faction than the Decepticons tend to be? Or does Cy-Kill lead through cleverness, dirty fighting, and being completely willing to sick Zod on his enemies?

I think we got our rider. Just uh... get rid of the big Skull belt buckle. :D Also, gotta' agree on your thoughts about Cy-kill having something more than brute strength to offer the Renegades. As a former Guardian, he could have offered transforming technology to the Renegades. In the cartoon, only the Guardians could transform while the civillian population was strictly non-transforming. They make a big deal about it in one of the episodes, how it's like this big badge of honor to be given the ability to transform. Like - "You're a Guardian now!" I think the origin episode for Cy-kill showed Renegades being able to transform prior to Cy-kill taking them over as leader, but we're doing this our way, right? Hehe.

*EDIT*
I was just watching Cy-kill's origin ep and the Renegades did have the ability to transform prior to Cykey taking over. But whatever.

Still, he's got to have something else worthwhile to stay their leader. Knowing the Renegades, they'd kill him once they'd gotten the transformation technology. I like to think that he brought a sense of organization and military discipline to their ranks that was lacking before. Cy-kill should be the one that transformed the Renegades from a disorganized pack of extremists into a professional army in their own right.

*EDIT*

Ooh! Ooh! Also in the origin ep, Scooter said that before Cy-kill took over, the Renegades were scattered across the galaxy! Nice. So maybe there's something to that.

His knowledge of Guardian methods and individuals would also be of great use. It would be much harder for the Guardians to infiltrate Renegade camps. In my own little version, I like to think the Renegades were suffering several losses due to Guardians that had been reporting all their battle plans beforehand. That fridge over there? That was a Guardian the whole time! Upon arriving in Renegade camp for the first time, maybe Cy-kill recognizes a piece of hardware or a vehicle as a Guardian in disguise and blasts them on the spot. Yeah, yeah!

... In addition to the cleverness, dirty fighting, and sicking Zod on his enemies. :P

I think maybe the guy hosting the pics didn't like me using them. Oops. But it was for a good cause! Oh well. NEXT!

HANS-CUFF

Oh you Gobots are your silly names. Who was he on the show? No idea. I just remember one scene of him driving around in an Earth cop car mode on Gobotron before he had ever been to Earth. Awesome. Is it possible to make him at least as good as the droves of Transformers cop cars out there? Well... not with that name, but maybe we can find him a decent alt mode.

This is the Carbon E7, custom built from the ground up to be a cop car. Some pretty impressive features on this thing. I love the suicide doors on the back too. Maybe not as jaw droppingly awesome as Barricade's mustang alt, but still pretty cool, I think. What do you think?

Next up: Small Foot
http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Guardians/Sm ... llfoot.htm

Image

One of my favorite Guardians. There was just something about her voice and alt-mode that made me think she would be a country girl if she were human. More of a tomboyish type with a rugged off-road truck for an alt. Yeah. That's pretty much the way I've always seen her. Her original alt-mode was a Toyota Hilux, seen here:

Image

I think this old 1985 model looks better than the 2010 version, which comes with big flares around the fenders. Kind of makes it look poofy. The '85 just looks more solid and boxy. I think this may be one instance where I'm happy leaving her the way she is (with a new and improved transformation, of course).

I'm not looking too hard on this one, so if someone can find a better truck for her, go for it. :D

Nobody likes Small Foot? Oh well. Next!

Got a weird one for tonight.

KLAWS
http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Renegades/Klaws/klaws.htm

No idea. If he was ever on the show, I didn't see him. He looks like a shellformer and his alt-mode... who knows what that's supposed to be? For this guy I instantly thought, "Beast Mode!" And what better beast mode for this guy than...

Image
A Horseshoe Crab!

*L* I really have no idea. Wow. Okay, so this was pretty lackluster. I'm doing another one.

HERR FIEND
http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Renegades/He ... rfiend.htm
Image

Okay, this is more like it. The resident Mad Scientist of the Renegades. He wore a monocle in the cartoon, and . . . was not called Herr Fiend in the show. Apparently that was just no good, so he was renamed Dr. GO!
*face palm*
Either way, he's a Porsche 928, which always seemed just wrong for a mad scientist. I'm going to class him up a bit. Dr. Go needs something a bit more sophisticated, a bit more regal and upper class. How about ...

Image
The BMW Z4 sDrive35i
http://www.bmworegon.com/vehicles/2011/ ... fault.aspx
Starts at $52,000. Definitely a step up. Still fast and sporty but classier than the porsche. What do you think?

I liked Small Foot. One of the Gobots I had, and I completely agree with your assessmwnr of her. Look at her head, it's almost a cowboy hat.

Klaws looks neat, is he one of the Renegade Monster guys? I loved those guys.

As for Herr Fiend (awesome name) I like the new alt mode, but I don't know about that transformation. Gobots loved that a lot. I don't know if I'd want to change it too much, but something's got to be done about the head. Something a little better defined, but under no circumstances should the monocle be lost.

I imagine all the Gobots would receive new transformations. I couldn't imagine updating them all and leaving them with the same sad-ass 2-step transformations. I found one guy that only had a 1-step transformation! No, they all have to be overhauled. I figured everyone would be Deluxe-class or larger. Nice and big so lots of detail and engineering can go into them.

* Guide Star was the guy with a 1-step transformation
http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Guardians/Gu ... destar.htm

Good eyes with Small Foot! I never even thought about the cowboy hat thing, but I could see how it kind of looks like it. Awesome. :D

Herr Fiend can definitely keep the monocle. Honestly, it wouldn't be too hard to work it into his design and still make it look robotic. TM2 Dinobot pulled it off pretty well. Just give Herr Fiend a big cable running from his monocle to his head and done!

Klaws is just some weird guy. It doesn't look like he's a part of any combiner. I'm not even sure what he's supposed to be. It's just weird. I found a little bit more info on him. One site describes him as a mutant. Another says he's an insect. The Gobots article on wikipedia describes him as a sea animal (I picked the horsheshoe crab before I even read that- ha!). 3 different sites. 3 different descriptions. Sounds like no one really knows. I blame Tonka and Bandai. :P I do like the wiki page though. It gives the best info I've been able to find on what everyone's alt modes are.

Y'know, with some repainting, a pack of Klawses could make a decent set of Sweeps for Scourge.
