Movie II tie-in comics and novels

Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.

I could argue that's all "Reign of Starscream" was. That's what these "sequel/prequel" comics are. Filling in the gaps between the movies.

But, similar to what I am talking about in the AHM thread, "Reign of Starscream" actually had something to say beyond "hey look, TFs in this comic, and it is the movie guys teh kewlz". "Alliance" is just Mowry throwing a bunch of non-movie characters around with no plan.

I'm starting to wonder about that, too. I haven't read the third issue, but I did read the first one, and it really seemed like it was going places. Throw in the fact that Wreckage changes his vehicle mode to be a repaint which, as it turns out, *isn't supposed to be him* (It's supposed to be Bludgeon and he comes with Whirl) just screams of "Nobody's telling us what's going on."

I'd disagree. We're seeing some closure from a few loose ends of the 1st movie as well as the progression of relations between humans and the Autobots, plus more Transformers arriving at Earth and how that is being handled by this human/Autobot alliance. It isn't just a bunch of non-movie characters being thrown around with no plan.

The human/Autobot alliance could have been fleshed out minus the sheer aimlessness and idiocy of the last 2 issues. And, I am skeptical about how much of this series is really going to matter for the movie.

Honestly, I would be surprised if this series mattered that much for the movie. But still, I don't find this 'aimless'. And the only stupid thing I though was when Optimus said "here humans, keep the Allspark shard safe" and then in the next issue basically said "oops, that was a mistake".

Even worse is that issue 3 undid some of the way kewl stuff that happened in the first 2 issues, which pretty much proves this series is being written as they go, like a child's play session.

Mowry can, and should, do better.

Um....issue 3 *does* pretty much undo large chunks for the first two issues. The characters are moved around...in circles. It looks like Mowry has no plan beyond "fill pages".

Well, there could be some changing editorial stuff we're unaware of. Y'know what I mean?
